Chroma è felice di inaugurare i suoi spazi con la mostra “BESTIARIO LISERGICO” di Marco Mazzoni, uno degli illustratori più noti dei nostri tempi con la sua prima mostra personale a Roma.
La mostra può essere interpretata come un bestiario moderno che raccoglie un insieme di esseri reali e immaginari e illustra simbolicamente le peculiarità caratteriali e morali dei suoi soggetti. La serie delle Mistiche presenterà delle opere inedite realizzate con la tecnica che rende l’artista così diverso ed originale: le matite colorate. Ritroveremo i soggetti a cui è sempre stato affezionato come la fauna e la flora e donne senza occhi immerse in un pattern di elementi naturali. In alcune opere, queste streghe sembrano coperte da un velo di farfalle o di fiori, attraverso cui emerge la loro pelle delicata e pallida, in altre, gli elementi della vegetazione fuoriescono dal corpo umano come ectoplasmi. La bellezza delle mistiche nasce dalla loro materia interna ed essa riempie tutto il foglio senza lasciare nessun spazio vuoto.
Con le sue opere Marco Mazzoni cerca di rappresentare il legame intrinseco tra l’Uomo e la natura come un insieme indivisibile. Nella serie con gli animali il punto centrale è la salute mentale: Marco Mazzoni ha cercato a dare un’immagine a dei problemi che possono sembrare astratti o difficilmente identificabili. A differenza delle altre opere, l’illustrazione è circondata dello spazio vuoto, rendendo il carattere centrale e immediato, anche grazie all’uso dell’inchiostro col quale il tratto diventa più sottile e delicato.
Questa combinazione tra le donne e gli elementi della natura rende il lavoro di Marco Mazzoni unico ed immediatamente riconoscibile. Lo spettatore è catapultato in un mondo surreale, pieno di simboli, la sua forza evocativa ci porta ad una profonda riflessione sulla nostra condizione ed al nostro rapporto con la Natura che si allontana sempre di più dalla nostra vita.
Biografia
Marco Mazzoni nasce nel 1982 a Tortona (AL), vive e lavora a Voghera (PV). Nel 2007 ha conseguito il diploma di laurea in pittura presso l'Accademia d'arte di Brera (Milano).
Marco Mazzoni è uno dei più importanti illustratori italiani. Le sue illustrazioni sono apparse in libri, giornali e riviste come The New Yorker, Juxtapoz Magazine, Hi Fructose Magazine, Les ArtsDessinés,ArteMondadori.
Per Albin Michel ha pubblicato il libro illustrato “Poucette” (distribuito in Spagna per Edelvives, in Italia da Rizzoli e in Belgio da Clavis). Per Collection Métamorphose (Edition Soleil) ha pubblicato Journal Troubles, in collaborazione con Sébastien Perez. E’ stato selezionato per il libro “The Illustrator 100 best from around the World” (Taschen).
Artisticamente collabora con Jonathan LeVine Projects (New Jersey) e Thinkspace Projects (Los Angeles) per l’America, Galleria Benoni (Copenhagen), Galleria Patricia Armocida (Milano), Galleria Giovanni Bonelli (Milano) per l’Europa.
Ha partecipato alla 54° International Art Exhibition, Biennale di Venezia, Padiglione Italia, curata da Vittorio Sgarbi, Padiglione Regionale Lombardia, Palazzo Te, Mantova, “Turn The Page: the first ten years of hi-fructose" al Virginia Museum Of Contemporary Art (Moca) (US), POW! WOW! Hawai’i all' Honolulu Museum of Art School (US), LA NATURA SQUISITA: BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF POP presso la Fondazione Stelline (Milano), The New Vanguard – presso il The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) e a IMAGO al Much Museum di Monaco (Germania).

Chroma is happy to inaugurate its spaces with the exhibition "BESTIARIO LISERGICO" by Marco Mazzoni, one of the best-known illustrators of our time with his first solo show in Rome.
The exhibition can be interpreted as a modern bestiary that gathers a collection of real and imaginary beings and symbolically illustrates the character and moral peculiarities of its subjects. The Mystics series will present new works made with the technique that makes the artist so different and original: colored pencils. We will find again the subjects he has always been fond of such as fauna and flora and eyeless women immersed in a pattern of natural elements. In some works, these witches seem to be covered by a veil of butterflies or flowers, through which their delicate, pale skin emerges; in others, the elements of vegetation emerge from the human body like ectoplasms. The beauty of the mystics comes from their inner matter and it fills the whole sheet without leaving any empty space.
Through his works Marco Mazzoni seeks to represent the intrinsic bond between Man and nature as an indivisible whole. In the series with animals, the focus is on mental health; Marco Mazzoni has tried to give an image to problems that may seem abstract or difficult to identify. Unlike the other works, the illustration is surrounded by empty space, making the character central and immediate, thanks in part to the use of ink with which the stroke becomes more subtle and delicate.
This combination of women and elements of nature makes Marco Mazzoni's work unique and immediately recognizable. The viewer is catapulted into a surreal world full of symbols, its evocative power leading us to a deep reflection on our condition and our relationship with Nature, which is becoming more and more distant from our lives.
Biography
