Venerdì 3 maggio 2024, alle ore 18:00, Quartz Studio è lieto di presentare Pastorale, la seconda personale a Torino del fotografo tedesco Ingar Krauss (Berlino Est, 1965). Nelle arti visive il tema pastorale rappresenta la vita dei pastori in un paesaggio rurale idilliaco quale ideale di semplicità e tranquillità proprie della campagna, immagini romantiche di vicinanza o ritorno alla natura. Il motivo del “luogo ambito” in cui condurre un’esistenza semplice a contatto con la natura, che nel pensiero e nel sentimento religioso corrisponde al concetto di Giardino dell’Eden, ricompare nelle fotografie di Ingar Krauss sotto forma di paesaggio interiore onirico, personale e autoreferenziale, in cui la campagna funge da metafora.

Ingar Krauss (Berlino Est, Germania, 1965) vive e lavora a Berlino e a Zechin (Brandenburgo, Germania). Dopo un apprendistato, il servizio militare e, per diversi anni, il lavoro di caregiver in ambito psichiatrico, dalla metà degli anni Novanta si dedica alla fotografia e da allora ha realizzato diversi progetti, sia in Germania sia all’estero. Ha partecipato a numerose collettive internazionali, ad esempio alla Hayward Gallery di Londra, al Musée de l’Elysée di Losanna, al MACRO - Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma, a Palazzo Vecchio a Firenze e all’International Center of Photography di New York. Le sue opere sono state esposte in personali al Goethe Institute di Parigi, al Velan Center di Torino, alla Kunsthalle Erfurt e alla Fondazione Guardini di Berlino, come pure in varie gallerie di Milano, Parigi, New York, Atlanta, Stoccarda e Berlino. Le sue pubblicazioni sono state edite da Hatje Cantz, Thames & Hudson, PowerHouse Books, Mondadori Electa, Kerber e Hartmann Books. Le sue opere fanno parte di collezioni artistiche sia istituzionali sia private. Krauss è rappresentato da Galerie Camera Obscura, Parigi; Galerie Springer, Berlino e da Jaeger Art, Berlino.

On Friday, May 3, 2024, at 6:00 pm, Quartz Studio is pleased to present Pastorale, the second solo show in Turin by the German photographer Ingar Krauss (East Berlin, Germany, 1965). A pastoral, from the Latin pastor (shepherd), is a motif in the visual arts that depicts the life of the shepherds in an idyllic rural landscape scene, as an ideal of rural simplicity and tranquility, as romantic images of closeness or return to nature. This motif of a “place of longing” for simple life in nature, which corresponds to ideas about the Garden of Eden in religious thought and feeling, reappears in the photographs of Ingar Krauss as a dreamlike inner scenery, personal and self-reflexive, referring to the rural as a metaphor.
Ingar Krauss (East Berlin, Germany, 1965) lives and works in Berlin and Zechin (Brandenburg, Germany). After learning a trade, performing military service, and working for many years as a psychiatric caregiver, he turned to photography in the mid-nineties and has since realized several photographic projects, in Germany and abroad. He has participated in numerous international group exhibitions, such as at the Hayward Gallery in London, the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, the MACRO - Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma, the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, and the International Center of Photography in New York. His works have been presented in solo exhibitions at the Goethe Institute in Paris, the Velan Center in Turin, the Kunsthalle Erfurt, and the Guardini Foundation in Berlin, as well as at galleries in Milan, Paris, New York, Atlanta, Stuttgart and Berlin. His publications include books by Hatje Cantz, Thames & Hudson, PowerHouse Books, Mondadori Electa, Kerber and Hartmann Books. His work is part of institutional and private art collections. The artist is represented by Galerie Camera, Paris; Galerie Springer, Berlin and Jaeger Art, Berlin.
