Suthat Pinruethai – Linguaggio Senza Cornice

Suthat Pinruethai ha un modo originale di osservare le cose, in cui unisce un proprio senso del tempo con gli artefatti del suo lavoro. La sua attenzione si focalizza su cose trascurate, su oggetti tralasciati ed immagini abbandonate. L’artista osserva le caratteristiche di ciò che ne è rimasto, e aggiunge informazioni che deriva dalle percezioni personali che vi scopre. Spesso il suo lavoro è molto semplice, e narra una storia diretta. Secondo il Buddismo la nostra vita è la conseguenza di vite passate. Ciò si riflette nell’arte di Pinruethai, dove egli identifica una sorta di contaminazione della vita passata degli oggetti che usa, per i quali la trasformazione a cui sono sottoposti può essere considerata una ‘rinascita’.
I disegni selezionati sono esempi di lavori realizzati nel periodo 2002-2011. Gli oggetti trovati giocano una parte fondamentale in questi disegni, poichèessi sono eseguiti su fogli usati, cartoline, fotografie e pagine pubblicitarie. All’interno dello studio, attività spontanee conducono a principi imprevisti, e coniugano idee ed oggetti esistenti.
L’elemento più importante per l’artista è la sensazione che rimane in ciò che viene abbandonato: dobbiamo essere coscienti di ciò che ci lasciamo alle spalle. Se non sappiamo prenderci cura di ciò che viene lasciato, e persino di come abbandoniamo le cose, il mondo si trasformerà col tempo in un pianeta costituito soltanto da rifiuti. Per illustrare questa sua teoria, l’opera dell’artista ruota attorno al principio della restituzione, alla lavorazione visiva di un linguaggio senza cornice, alla rivelazione di cose inespresse e di ciò che esprime quel che lasciamo alle nostre spalle.

Suthat Pinruethai has his own way of looking at things, blending a sense of time with the present artifacts of his work. He focuses on things that are overlooked, items and images that have been abandoned. He looks into the characteristics of what is left over, and adds information from the personal perceptions he discovers in them. His work is often very simple, and tells a direct story. In Buddhism it is said that this life is a consequence of a past life. This is reflected in Pinruethai’s art, where he finds a sort of contamination of the past life of the found objects he uses, viewing the transformation he puts them through as ‘rebirth’.
The selected drawings are examples of work created from 2002-2011. Found objects play a major role in these drawings, employing used papers, postcards, photographs and advertisements. Once in the studio, spontaneous activities lead to unplanned beginnings, merging idea and existing object together.
The feeling that remains in what is abandoned is most important for the artist, whose statement essentially is that we should be aware of what is left behind. If we don’t know how to take care of what is left behind, and even take care in how things are abandoned, the world will turn out to be a trashed planet in the universe. To illustrate this, the artist practices work that revolves around reclaiming, visually working with unframed language and reveal the feelings of things that are left unsaid, and what is said by what we leave behind.
