Prosegue “Storie Fumanti”, la prima stagione espositiva di Rossmut (Concept Store) di Roma che, dopo le doppie personali di Alessandro Giampaoli con Andrea Guerzoni e di Paolo Angelosanto con John Malkovich, propone RAQAM disegno e segno un nuovo progetto espositivo, con la cura di Jack Fisher e l'intervento critico di Federica Mariani.
Tema della mostra è il ricamo al maschile nell'arte, con 13 artisti coinvolti: Pasquale Altieri, Paolo Angelosanto, Gianluigi Antonelli, Maurizio Anzeri, Marco Bernardi, Max Bottino, Matia Chincarini, Diego Cinquegrana, Giovanni Gaggia, Andrea Guerzoni, Karelei, Shafiqul Kabir,Emilio Leofreddi.
Nelle opere presentate il ricamo assume sfaccettature diverse, l’artigianalità del gesto esalta l’originale espressione del segno rendendolo più incisivo. RAQUAM vuole riflettere sulla cura, l’eleganza e la raffinatezza nel ricamo e il suo ruolo nell’arte contemporanea.
Se l’arte del ricamare da sempre è stata considerata una prerogativa delle donne, - scrive Federica Mariani – RAQAM, disegno e segno vuole porre l’attenzione sull’interpretazione maschile. 13 artisti, 13 fili intrecciati, 1 verbo per definire il loro atto: ricamare. Un’azione spogliata dall’accento domestico e femminile, ma che conserva intatta il suo tratto intimo e sensibile. Il ricamo è sempre stato un atto creativo e diventa, per questa esposizione, oggetto e soggetto originale interpretato da 13 artisti. Un segno sottile ma tangibile, deciso ma delicato svela le caratteristiche meccaniche del filo: inestensibilità e flessibilità, cucite alla creatività. Le opere in mostra per questo secondo atto di RAQAM sottolineano la sperimentazione e la manualità dell’azione attraverso l’utilizzo di supporti differenti tessuti, tappeti, sculture, video e performance: una polifonia di linguaggi che sviscera l’essenza di questa partica ancestrale.
Nell’arte contemporanea il ricamo ha perso la sua valenza decorativa per farsi parte integrante dell’opera, l’ago attraversa il supporto, lo ferisce e lo segna, il filo diventa la traccia permeante del significato dell’opera.
RAQAM disegno e segno è un prezioso stratagemma per riflettere sulla cura, l’eleganza e la raffinatezza nel ricamo e il suo ruolo inedito nell'arte contemporanea.
Ricamare = curare con molta e a volte eccessiva eleganza e raffinatezza la forma nello scrivere, nel parlare o recitare, nel comporre e nell’eseguire musica, nel dipingere, ecc.:

Una anticipazione di RAQAM, disegno e segno è stata presentata nello stand 25 di Sponge ArteContemporanea a SetUp la nuova fiera indipendente bolognese. Al primo nucleo di artisti 4 + 1 se ne sono aggiunti altri che utilizzano anch'essi il media del ricamo.
La mostra in collaborazione con Sponge ArteContemporanea sarà visitabile da martedì a sabato dalle 11 alle 15 e dalle 16 alle 20 fino al 30 marzo 2013.
Rossmut (Concept Store) continua ad ospitare oltre a Technobohémian, la linea realizzata con tessuti naturali di manifattura italiana by John Malkovich, gli abiti di Zora & Neva, Arianna D'Auria ed Aurora Potenti, i gioielli di Clio Fiore e Clizia Ornato ed il design di Mood e Novo Design.
Come raggiungerci: dalla Stazione Termini, piazza dei Cinquecento, recarsi alla fermata Termini (MA-MB-FS), linea H Capasso, dopo sei fermate scendere a Sonnino a piedi per circa 400 metri.
"Smoking Histories" goes on; the first exhibition season of Rossmut (Concept Store) in Rome which, after the double exhibition by Alessandro Giampaoli with Andrea Guerzoni and Paolo Angelosanto with John Malkovich, is proposing RAQAM design and sign, a new exhibition curated by Jack Fisher with the critical text by Federica Mariani.
The subject of te exhibition is the male perspective of embroidery in contemporary art, which involve 13 artists: Pasquale Altieri, Paolo Angelosanto, Gianluigi Antonelli, Maurizio Anzeri, Marco Bernardi, Max Bottino, Matia Chincarini, Diego Cinquegrana, Giovanni Gaggia, Andrea Guerzoni, Karelei, Shafiqul Kabir, Emilio Leofreddi.
In the works presented the embrodery assumes different facets, the craftsmanship enhances the original expression of the sign and makes it more effective. RAQAM represents the detail, elegance and refinement in the embroidery and its role in contemporary art.
Federica Mariani writes that the art of embrodery has always been considered a woman?s prerogative, but RAQAM design and sign, wants to focus on the male interpretation of it. There are 13 artists, 13 threads intricated and only 1 verb to define their act: to embroider. An action stripped of its feminine and domestic nature that preserves its intimate and sensitive line. Embroidery has always been a creative act and for this exhibition becomes a unique subject and object interpreted by 13 artists. A subtle but tangible sign, firm but delicate, it reveals the mechanical features of the thread: inextensibility and flexibility, sewn to creativity. The works presented in this second act of RAQAM highlight testing and manual action through the use of different media: fabrics, carpets, sculptures, video and perfomances: a polyphony of languages thatdissects the essence of this ancestral practice.
Embroidery in contemporary art has lost its decorative value to be a part of the work, the needle goes through the material, wounds and marks it, and the thread becomes a permeating track of the work's meaning.
RAQAM design and sign is a valued stratagem to reflect on the attention, elegance and refinement in the embroidery and its innovative role in contemporary art.
To embroider = attend to, with great care and at time excessive elegance and refinement the form of writing, of speaking or acting, of composing or performing music, of paiting etc.. I.e. the page, the phrase, the speech; i.e. the part, related to the actors; i.e. a sonata; i.e. Lithography. (taken form Trecani.it).
A preview of RAQAM design and sign has been presented in the stand 25 of Sponge ArteContemporanea at SetUp, the new independent art fair of Bologna. The first group of artists 4+1 have been joined by others who are also using the embroidery.
The exhibition in partnership with Sponge ArteContemporanea will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, until March 30, 2013.
Aside from Technobohèmian, line of clothing made with natural fabrics of italian manufacture by John Malkovich, Rossmut continues to stock clothes by Zora & Neva, Arianna D'Auria and Aurora Potenti, the jewelery by Clio Fiore and Clizia Ornato and the design by Mood and Novo Design.
