Le visioni vere e fantastiche di Silvestro Pistolesi e Rino Giannini
Due maestri toscani espongono ad Arezzo dal 31 agosto al 10 settembre 2013
Con la nuova stagione espositiva la Villicana D'Annibale Galleria d'Arte si trasferisce in una location più grande, a poca distanza dalla vecchia sede, in via Cavour 85, limitrofa a Piazza della Badia.
La nuova galleria sarà inaugurata sabato 31 agosto 2013, alle ore 18, con la mostra di due noti maestri toscani - il pittore Silvestro Pistolesi e lo scultore Rino Giannini - intitola Le visioni vere e fantastiche. L'esposizione, a cura di Liletta Fornasari, proseguirà a ingresso gratuito fino a martedì 10 settembre 2013.
Saranno presenti circa venti opere recenti del maestro fiorentino, compresi paesaggi, marine e ritratti, e otto sculture in marmo, terracotta e materiali vari con figure, ritratti e barche dello scultore versiliese.
Tra gli eventi collaterali alla "doppia personale" si segnala, sabato 7 settembre alle ore 18, il concerto di "canti ucraini" con soprano Svitlana Buderatska, accompagnata al pianoforte dal maestro Franco Meoli.
È un onore per la galleria presentare due maestri, attivi da oltre cinquant'anni e apprezzati in tutto il mondo. Silvestro Pistolesi, maestro e seguace della scuola di Pietro Annigoni, e Rino Giannini, scultore e già docente dell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara.
I due artisti condividono eccellenza, fantasia e passione, caratteristiche che la Villicana D'Annibale Galleria D'Arte dedica ai giovani artisti di oggi, pronti a iniziare un nuovo anno scolastico, con la speranza di ispirarli nella ricerca e nello studio della grande tradizione figurativa toscana
Silvestro Pistolesi è un alfiere indiscusso di tecniche quasi perdute della scuola fiorentina. Il suo stile figurativo moderno-rinascimentale traduce trasposizioni oniriche nei quadri eseguiti in studio con la tempera grassa, per poi inondarsi di luce nei bozzetti a olio eseguiti dal vero, e raggiungere la massima espressione nella realizzazione di grandi pareti dipinte con la tecnica dell'affresco.
La sua produzione recente è fatta di opere di piccolo formato, splendide vedute di luoghi marittimi dove il pittore trova rifugio dal caldo estivo di Firenze, e dove può contemplare la profondità della natura e dell'orizzonte.
Altre opere selezionate per Arezzo sono frutto della sua fantasia, posti fantastici di un mondo che non accetta ne promuove la modernità, come il grande quadro eseguito con la tecnica tipica della bottega annigoniana, a tempera grassa su tavola, in cui un'eremita guarda una mongolfiera librarsi nell'aria.
Liletta Fornasari, storico dell'arte e curatrice della mostra, descrive il lavoro del maestro nella critica presentato nel catalogo per la mostra, "Visioni dal sapore romantico sono elementi essenziali dalla sintassi figurativa di Pistolesi, artista dotato di una profonda sensibilità, da lui stesso traslata in un modo straordinario di rendere, nonché interpretare la luce, facendo di quest'ultima un elemento sacrale, indispensabile ed espanso, come se tutto oltrepassasse i limiti reali della visione, armonizzando però l'effetto luminoso al racconto che ogni piccolo quadro in mostra vuole fermare in attimi percettivi, secondo una sequenza rapida e una lettura senza sosta, ma ricca di accezioni allusive e simboliche."
Accanto all'arte di Pistolesi ci sarà una selezione di pregevoli sculture eseguite da Rino Giannini, un grande sperimentatore di marmi e terrecotte dipinte che riesce con innata sensibilità a trasferire le luci della Versilia nei suoi lavori. Liletta Fornasari, curatrice della mostra, descrive suo lavoro, "Sono sufficienti le otto sculture, tra marmi e terrecotte, esposte in mostra per comprendere l'iter esplorativo compiuto da Rino Giannini, artista da sempre impegnato nella ricerca di forme e concetti nuovi, nonché capace di svolgere per circa un ventennio la docenza di Tecnica del marmo presso l' Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara, creando una congiunzione perfetta tra la sua volontà di sperimentare attraversando culture e momenti di pensiero assai diversi e la necessità di insegnare l'arte delle scultura nel rispetto delle vere regole..."
Tra le opere presenti ad Arezzo sono incluse imbarcazioni, ritratti, figure femminili come quella in marmi policromi intitolata Venezia, o terrecotte dipinte come Hatanor, dove uomo e donna raggiungono l'unità.
Le capacità di Giannini nell'arte scultorea non ha limiti. Avendo insegnato per molti anni in una delle accademie più prestigiose del mondo, ha potuto trasmettere la sua maestria e generazioni di allievi.
Fatto curioso: nel 1984 l'artista fu uno degli esperti chiamati a risolvere lo scandalo delle tre teste ritrovate dragando il Fosso Reale di Livorno, attribuite a Modigliani, ma poi risultate frutto di uno scherzo di alcuni studenti universitari. Il Giannini ancora contesta le dichiarazioni degli studenti livornesi, con concetti e dimostrazioni, la inverosimilità della loro affermazione; con il conforto di altri esperti, continua ad affermare che "Modì 2" ha insistito immersa nell'acqua per diversi lustri.
Pistolesi e Giannini: due artisti, due artigiani ma soprattutto due grandi maestri che illumineranno la lunga estate aretina.
Biografia Silvestro Pistolesi:
Silvestro Pistolesi nasce a Firenze nel 1943 e fin da giovanissimo dimostra la sua inclinazione artistica, iscrivendosi prima alla Scuola d'Arte di Porta Romana e quindi all'Accademia Cappiello.
Il suo apprendistato inizia con la frequentazione dello studio della pittrice Nerina Simi. Contemporaneamente si iscrive al corso di Nudo dell'Accademia delle Belle Arti di Firenze. In seguito conosce quello che sarà il suo grande maestro: Pietro Annigoni. È frequentando il suo studio, dal 1963, che avviene la sua vera formazione artistica. La prima personale è del 1972 alla Arts Unlimited Gallery di Londra che, con pieno successo, lo decreta talento di fama internazionale. Da allora ha esposto in numerose città italiane ed estere. L'artista ha eseguito ritratti di famosi personaggi, come quello di papa Giovanni Paolo II, e opere di grande rilevanza in sedi quali l'abbazia di Montecassino, il santuario della Verna, l'abbazia di Vallombrosa, l'ospedale "Don Gnocchi" di Scandicci e la chiesa della Trasfigurazione a Cape Cod, negli Stati Uniti. Tra le attività recenti sono da segnalare, nel 2012, la mostra personale alla "Casa Rossa" di Pontassieve (Fi) e la realizzazione del ritratto di Giuseppe Betori, arcivescovo di Firenze. Nella primavera 2013 si è svolta una sua mostra a Villa Rufolo di Ravello (Sa).

"...Pistolesi è un lavoratore, con un lungo tirocinio, con quel tipo di tirocinio che una volta iniziato, per il vero artista, non ha fine, è già arrivato a conquistare dei mezzi talvolta eccezionali, come è dimostrato da varie opere... Certo è difficile, oggigiorno, trovare tra i pittori suoi coetanei qualcuno che non solo si oppone alle correnti di moda (o meglio, se ne sente estraneo), ma qualcuno che come lui sia isolato 'in un mondo proprio' apparentemente anacronistico, è pieno di accenti e significati assorgenti nell'insieme a valore di simbolo: simbolo di un coerente rimpianto che soltanto oggi è dato a provare...".

Biografia Rino Giannini:
Rino Giannini nasce a Pietrasanta (Lu) nel 1939 ed è cresciuto nell'ambiente della lavorazione del marmo. Dopo varie esperienze, si è indirizzato verso la scultura, diplomandosi alla Scuola d'Arte di Pietrasanta.
Come scultore professionista ha ottenuto commissioni importanti tra cui si segnalano il ritratto di padre Ciampicon per la Chiesa Dei Servi di Maria di Massa, quattro sculture di Oranti per una cappella del cimitero di Staglieno (Ge), il ritratto ufficiale di Federico Milkovich, fondatore della U.I.L.M.D., il ritratto di Henry Laurens per la Historical Society di Charlestown e la Madonna col Bambino per la Casa del fanciullo delle Seycelles, il monumento per la zona commerciale di Seano (Prato) e le sculture commemorative di Monsieur Moulin e Charles De Gaulle per Cannes, Costa Azzurra.
Nel 1975 è stato invitato a tenere la docenza del corso denominato "Tecnica del marmo" nella Scuola di Scultura dell'Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara, mantenendo l'incarico per venti anni. Ancora oggi l'artista continua a scolpire nel suo studio denominato Scuola superiore di Scultura di Pietrasanta.
Giannini è anche organizzatore e curatore di eventi artistici, ed è stato invitato a scolpire in simposi e altre manifestazioni di tipo figurativo in tutto il mondo (Francia, Spagna, Grecia, Svizzera, Israele, Libano, Siria, Stati Uniti).

"...L'artigiano e lo scultore convivono e si fondono. Ciò non vuol dire solo saper manovrare strumenti, ma vedere con occhi attenti ed esperti che vanno oltre la superficie. In questo quasi sesto senso, anche per marmi di modeste dimensioni, spesso scaglie, piccoli blocchi irregolari di cui erano dotati gli studenti troviamo la differenza fra l'artista e la macchina di cui un artigiano è dotato...".

Two Tuscan masters exhibit in Arezzo from August 31 to September 10, 2013
Celebrating the beginning of a new season of exhibits, the Villicana D'Annibale Galleria d'Arte is moving to a new and larger location, not distant from the previous location, at via Cavour 85, adjacent to Piazza Badia (Badia Square).
The new gallery will be inaugurated August 31, 2013 at 6pm, with the exhibit of two noted Tuscan masters - painter Silvestro Pistolesi and the sculptor Rino Giannini - entitled The real and fantastic visions. The exposition, curated by Liletta Fornasari, will continue free of entrance until Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
Present will be approximately twenty recent works of art of the Florentine master, including landscapes, seascapes and portraits, eight sculptures in marble, terracotta and various materials, portraits and boats of the sculptor from Versilia.
Events in the gallery of the "double solo exhibition" include, Saturday September 7 at 6pm, the concerto of the "Ukrainian Songs" with the soprano Svitlana Buderatska, accompanied by piano by Franco Meoli.
It is a great honor for the gallery to present two masters, active for more than fifty years and appreciated in all the world. Silvestro Pistolesi, master and follower of the school of Pietro Annigoni, and Rino Giannini, sculptor and professor on retirement from the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara.
The two artists share excellence, fantasy and passion, characteristics that the Villicana D'Annibale Galleria D'Arte dedicate to the young artists of today, ready to begin the new scholastic year, with the hope to inspire them in the research and the study of the great Tuscan figurative tradition.
Silvestro Pistolesi is an indisputable leader in the almost forgotten techniques of the Florentine school. His figurative modern-renaissance style translates fantastic movement in his paintings created in the studio with tempera grassa, as well as his oil studies painted from life flooded with light, and then to achieve the maximum expression in the realization of large walls painted with the fresco technique.
His recent production is of works of small format, splendid views of maritime cities where the painter finds refuge from the hot summers of Florence, and where he contemplates the profoundness of nature and the horizon.
Other works selected for Arezzo are fruit of his fantasy, fantastic places of a world that doesn't accept nor promote modernity, as the large painting created with the technique typical of the bottega of Annigoni, of tempera grassa on board, in which a hermit watches a hot air balloon which flies high in the sky.
Liletta Fornasari, art historian and curator of the exhibit, describes the work of the master in the critical text presented in the catalogue for the exhibit, "Visions of a romantic flavor are the essential elements of the figurative syntax of Pistolesi, an artist gifted of a profound sensibility, transferred by himself in an extraordinary ability to express, and not only interpret the light, making of this last a sacred element, indispensable and expanded, as if all could overstep the true limits of vision, although harmonizing the luminous effect to the story that each little painting in the exhibit would like to halt in perceptive moments, according to a rapid sequence and a reading without breaking, but rich in allusive and symbolic meanings."
Next to the art of Pistolesi will be a selection of exquisite sculptures created by Rino Giannini, a great experimenter of marbles and painted terracotta which he successfully translates with innate sensibility the light of Versilia in his works. Liletta Fornasari, curator of the exhibit, describes his work, "Sufficient are the eight sculptures, between marbles and terrecotte, on display in the exhibit, to understand the explorative practice completed by Rino Giannini, artist continually occupied with the research of forms and new concepts, as well as capable of conducting his activity for approximately twenty years as professor of Technique of marble at the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, creating a perfect junction between his will to experiment experiencing cultures and moments of thought extremely different and the necessity to teach the art of sculpture respecting the authentic rules..."
Amongst the works of art present in Arezzo are included ships, portraits, female figures such as that of the polychrome marble entitled Venice, or the painted terrecotte sculptures such as Hatanor, where man and woman achieve unity.
The capacity of Giannini in the sculptural arts has no limits. Having taught for many years in one of the most prestigious academies in the world, he was able to pass on his mastery to generations of students.
An interesting fact: in 1984 the artist was one of the experts called in to resolve the scandal of the three heads found dredging the Fosso Reale (Royal Moat) of Livorno, attributed to Modigliani, but then found to be fruit of a joke played by some university students. Giannini still contests the declarations of the students from Livorno, with concepts and demonstrations, the incredibility of their affirmations; with the comfort of other experts, he continues to affirm that "Modì 2" remained immersed in the water for various "lustri" (five-year periods).
Pistolesi and Giannini: two artists, two artisans but above all two great masters sure to illuminate the long Aretine summer.
Biography Silvestro Pistolesi:
Silvestro Pistolesi was born in Florence in 1943 and from a very early age demonstrated his artistic inclination, attending first the Graphic Art section of the Institute of Fine Arts at Porta Romana, and later the School of Publicity of the "Leonetto Capiello" Institute. His apprenticeship began with the frequenting of the studio of the painter Nerina Simi. At the same time, he enrolled in the course the Nude at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Afterward he met who would be his great master: Pietro Annigoni. He began frequenting his studio, from 1963, and there his true artistic formation took place. His first solo exhibit was in 1972 at the Arts Unlimited Gallery of London, a complete success, and he was proclaimed a talent of international fame. Since then he has exhibited in numerous Italian cities and abroad. The artist has painted portraits of famous people, like that of Pope Giovanni Paolo II, and works of great relevance in locations such as the Abbey of Montecassino, the sanctuary of La Verna, the Abbey of Vallombrosa, the hospital "Don Gnocchi" of Scandicci and the church of the Transfiguration of Cape Cod in the United States. Noteworthy of his recent activity in 2012, to mention are his solo exhibition at the "Casa Rossa" in 2012 and the realization of the portrait of Giuseppe Betori, archbishop of Florence. In the spring of 2013 an exhibit of his work was held Villa Rufolo in Ravello (Sa).

Certainly it is difficult in this day and age to find among painters of his generation someone who is not only opposed to the currents of fashion or better still feels outside it all, but one like him who has also isolated himself in an apparently anachronistic "world of his own", so full of accents and meanings that together assume symbolical value: the symbol of a coherent regret that one can feel only today... Biography Rino Giannini:
Rino Giannini was born in Pietrasanta (Lu) in 1939 and grew up in the surroundings of the working of marble. After various experiences, he decided to dedicate his time to sculpture and received a diploma from the Art Institute of Pietrasanta. As a professional sculptor, he obtained many important commissions amongst which is notable the portrait of Father Ciampicon for the Church Chiesa Dei Servi di Maria di Massa, four sculptures of Oranti for a chapel of a cemetery of Staglieno (Ge), the official portrait of Federico Milkovich, founder of the U.I.L.M.D., the portrait of Henry Laurens for the Historical Society of Charlestown and the Madonna with Child for the House of the young child of Seycelles, the monument for the commercial area of Seano (Prato) and the commemorative sculpture of Mr. Moulin and Charles De Gaulle for Cannes in the French Riviera.
In 1975 he was invited to teach and became professor of the course entitled "Techniques of marble" in the School of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, where he taught for twenty years. Today the artist continues to sculpt in his studio entitled the Superior School of Sculpture of Pietrasanta.
Giannini is also an organizer and curator of artistic events, and he was invited to sculpt in symposiums and other manifestations of figurative nature in the entire world (France, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and the United States).
