E2’s For the Love of Art

Partendo dai maestri fiamminghi, la ricerca “Per amore dell’arte” attraversa quasi 600 anni di storia dell’arte. Le parti più importanti della serie includono Van Eyck, Rafael, Velàsquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer e Manet, che sono state recentemente acquistate dal Museo di Belle Arti di Houston.

Il duo artistico E2 (ElizabethKleinveld&Epaul Julien) esporrà le sue opere presso la Galleria Bongiovanni a partire dal 5 di Ottobre, in occasione dell’evento annuale AMACI, IX Giornata del Contemporaneo, che pone l’enfasi sull’importanza della collaborazione internazionale e dello scambio culturale.
Ispirato sia dal lavoro Ourika di Claire du Duras e dalla Storia della bellezza di Umberto Eco, il duo E2 che proviene da New Orleans, ha abbracciato i vecchi capolavori mondiali tingendoli di un nuovo significato per condurre ad un dialogo sull’effetto dei luoghi comuni.
Partendo dai maestri fiamminghi, la ricerca “Per amore dell’arte” attraversa quasi 600 anni di storia dell’arte. Le parti più importanti della serie includono Van Eyck, Rafael, Velàsquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer e Manet, che sono state recentemente acquistate dal Museo di Belle Arti di Houston.
Il duo internazionale apparve per la prima volta sulla scena italiana durante la scorsa edizione del MIA ,quando il Sunday Times prestò attenzione al loro “Ode al Bacio di Hayez” nell’articolo che delineava i migliori fotografi al mondo, da allora ha lavorato da vicino con artisti/fotografi italiani, fotografando Grelo e Petracchi di Bongiovanni così come Marco Ventura, Pamela Grigante e Mauro Fiorese in lavori che rendono omaggio ai maestri italiani incluso Raffaello, Tiziano, Bronzino, Perugino, Anguissola… Lavori di questi cinque artisti verranno anche esibiti nella mostra.
E2 lavora strettamente con il Teatro Nazionale olandese che fornisce la maggior parte dei costumi. Alcuni abiti/costumi sono stati ordinati dall’atelier Pietro Longhi di Venezia. Di recente il Museo di Castelvecchio ha commissionato a E2 di riprodurre il Veronese per Arte Verona. L’Atelier Pietro Longhi sta creando il costume per quell’opera. Il lavoro della serie Per amore dell’artedi E2è stata esibita al Centro di Arte Contemporanea di New Orleans, al Museo Ogden di Arte del Sud, al Centro per la Fotografia di Houston, a Photoville, a New York e al GemeentemuseumDenHaag.

E2’s For the Love of Art at Bongiovanni Gallerie
Artist Duo E2 (Elizabeth Kleinveld & Epaul Julien) will be showing works at Bongiovanni Gallerie from Oct.5th,in occasion of AMACI,yearly event,to emphasize the importance of international collaboration and cultural exchange.
Inspired by both the work of Claire du Duras’s Ourika and Umberto Eco’s History of Beauty,Duo E2 who hail from New Orleans, have embraced old world masterpieces imbuing them with a new meaning to bring about a dialogue about the effect of stereotypes.
Starting with the Flemish masters, this body of work spans almost 600 years of art history.Highlights of the series include van Eyck,Rafael, Velásquez, Rembrandt, Vermeer and Manet, which was recently purchased by the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.The international duo first appeared on the Italian scene during last MIA when the Sunday Times took notice of their Ode to Hayez’ the Kiss in their feature article outlining the world’s best photographers,has been working closely with Italian artists/photographers ever since,photographing Bongiovanni’s Grelo and Petracchi as well as Marco Ventura,Pamela Grigante and Mauro Fiorese in works that pay homage to Italian masters including Raphael, Titian, Bronzino, Perugino,

Anguissola…Work from these 5 Italian artists will also be seen in the show.E2 works closely with the Dutch National Theatre,which provides most of the costumes.Some costumes have been commissioned from Atelier Pietro Longhi,Venice.Recently Castelvecchio Museum has commissioned E2 to reproduce a Veronese for Art Verona. Atelier Pietro Longhi is creating the costume for that piece.Work from E2’s For the Love of Art series has been shown at the Contemporary Art Center New Orleans, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Houston Center for Photography, Photoville, NYC and the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.
