The Paolo Erbetta Gallery is pleased to present the solo exhibition of Rieko Hotta (Tokyo, 1977) entitled Mash. In the exhibition will be displayed paintings of various sizes from 18x14 cm up to 200x300 cm.
The search of the artist aims to simultaneously synthesize the macrocosmic and microcosmic vision of perception, using an apparent random distribution of solids and voids. In the enjoyment of these works we are inevitably led to "scan" the surface of the canvas looking for a reassuring visual anchor, such as clouds, geographic perimeters and paths. Once we find a still point of view, this is immediately contradicted by another hypothetical and possible interpretation.
These are monochromatic works obtained by applying the oil paint with a repeated sign. Apparently harmless, they bring however, unexpectedly, the viewer in a maelstrom of new connections that generate a new perception of the meaning of things.

Die Paolo Erbetta Gallery freut sich, die Einzelausstellung der Künstlerin Rieko Hotta (Tokio 1977) mit dem Titel Mash zu präsentieren. In der Ausstellung werden Bilder verschiedener Formate, zwischen 200x300 cm und 18x14 cm, zu sehen sein.

Die Arbeit von Rieko Hotta versucht, gleichzeitig die makrokosmische und mikrokosmische Perzeption auszudrücken und benutzt dabei die scheinbar zufällige Anordnung von leeren und mit Farbe bedeckten Stellen.Wenn man diese Werke betrachtet, ist man unvermeidlich dazu geneigt, die Oberfläche der Bilder zu "scannen", um irgendeinen beruhigenden visiven Anhaltspunkt, wie zum Beispiel Wolken, Umrisse und Linien zu suchen. Wenn man dann einen sichtbaren Ruhepunkt gefunden hat, wird dieser sofort durch einen anderen hypothetischen und möglichen Lösungsschlüssel widerlegt.

Die Bilder sind monochrome Arbeiten, bei denen Ölfarbe wiederholt mit einen Strich aufgetragen wird.Scheinbar harmlos ziehen die Werke jedoch den Betrachter gleichsam wie ein Magnet in einen Wirbel von Zusammenhängen, die eine neue Perzeption des Sinnes der Dinge hervorrufen.

La Paolo Erbetta Gallery è lieta di presentare la mostra personale di Rieko Hotta (Tokyo, 1977) dal titolo Mash. In mostra saranno esposte tele di varie dimensioni a partire da 200x300 cm fino a 18x14 cm.
La ricerca di Hotta punta a sintetizzare contemporaneamente la visione macrocosmica e microcosmica della percezione, utilizzando un’apparente distribuzione casuale di pieni e di vuoti. Nella fruizione di queste opere si è inevitabilmente portati a “scannerizzare” la superficie della tela alla ricerca di un rassicurante ancoraggio visivo, quale nuvole, perimetri geografici e percorsi. Una volta trovato un punto fermo visivo, questo, viene subito contraddetto da un’altra ipotetica e possibile chiave di lettura.
Sono lavori monocromatici ottenuti applicando il colore ad olio con un segno ripetuto. Apparentemente innocui, calamitano però, inaspettatamente, il fruitore in un vortice di nuovi collegamenti che generano una percezione nuova del senso delle cose.
