Like a Little Disaster e Omphalos hanno il piacere di presentare “2.141 The picture is a fact.” un nuovo progetto a cura di Giuseppe Pinto che coinvolgerà un importante nucleo di opere e progetti di tre giovani artisti - Lia Cecchin, Elisabeth S. Clark, Krišs Salmanis - che si stanno distinguendo nel panorama artistico nazionale ed internazionale per una severa ricerca formale intorno alle proprietà e alle potenzialità di materie leggere, impercettibili, evanescenti, diluite in un alone ironico e concettuale.
La loro ricerca è un’esplorazione delle forme e dei confini dell’immagine, della sua percezione, della sua presenza-assenza, attraverso una metodica messa in discussione dei limiti percettivi o tramite una radicale dematerializzazione dell’opera stessa.
La logica materiale-immateriale, visibile-invisibile di questo panorama rende possibile una penetrazione filosofica nel rapporto tra cose, segni, linguaggi e percezione.
Quella dei tre artisti sembra un’attitudine da ricercatori indipendenti che, in modo autonomo e antiaccademico, individuano un incipit e poi seguire un’evoluzione dettata dall’alternarsi di rigore formale, casualità e coincidenze. Una poetica che può essere intesa come una storia che si evolve in tanti frammenti satellitari attorno ad un nucleo effimero che non viene mai illustrato direttamente, ma solo evocato.
Come molti artisti dell’ultima generazione anche Cecchin, Clark e Salmanis attuano una sorta di spontanea messa in discussione dei dogmi e degli stereotipi in cui si è provato a convogliare il fare dell’arte e dell’artista. La fusione stilistica e la libertà compositiva caratterizzano il loro arguto agire, un procedere che assorbe le esperienze passate – anche molto recenti – e ce le restituisce in maniera del tutto personale e priva di condizionamenti.
I tre artisti pongono riflessioni estetiche e politiche utilizzando anche le esperienze storiche per attraversare successivi territori della forma e del pensiero.
I lavori proposti dal gruppo sembrano, al di la' delle singole soggettività, avere una sorta di filo comune, cioè tutti "giocano" sul limite, quasi impercettibile, del rapporto tra realtà e finzione, tra oggetto e percezione di esso, tra visibile e invisibile, tra immagine e la sua storia.
Attraverso un'operazione di estraneamento lieve ma progressivo, immagini ritenute ben conosciute o decodificabili subiscono una metamorfosi sottile ed impercettibile che le rende tanto vicine quanto imprendibili.
Il complesso impianto visivo legato alla meraviglia, all’apparente impossibilità del comprendere e circoscrivere un segno visivo in modo preciso, è affrontato con una leggerezza impercettibile, spiazzando lo spettatore di fronte ad oggetti e segni di natura ambigua.

In mostra sarà presentata l’audio-video installazione “Long Day” 2012, nata dalla collaborazione tra Kriss Salmanis e Steve Roden.

Lia Cecchin
(Feltre, 1987) vive e lavora in Italia, con base a Torino. Ha studiato Arti Visive presso la Facoltà di Arti e Design, Università IUAV di Venezia. Ha preso parte a numerose mostre collettive in Italia e all'estero, tra cui nel 2010 "BYTS Bosch Young Talent Show" presso AKV ('s-Hertogenbosch – NL); nel 2012 "Opera 2011", mostra di fine residenza degli artisti degli Atelier della Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, presso la Galleria di Piazza San Marco (Venezia); “Fuoriclasse” a cura di Luca Cerizza, presso la GAM (Milano) e nel 2013 “The First Settlers” presso HALLE 14 (Leipzig - DE). Tra le sue mostre personali: "A bassa voce", realizzata nel 2010 presso la Galleria Upp (Venezia) e “Last minute project” nel 2011, a cura di Superfluo (Padova). Nel 2011 è stata inoltre selezionata per il programma di residenza annuale della Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa (Venezia) e per il workshop tenuto da Massimo Bartolini presso la Fondazione Spinola Banna di (Poirino). Nel 2013 ha preso parte al programma di residenza della durata di 4 mesi tenuto presso HALLE 14 (Leipzig - DE), come una dei due artisti internazionali selezionati. Nello stesso anno ha aderito al progetto Resò Meet Up curato da Resò (Torino) e frequentato il workshop tenuto da Marta Kuzma presso la Fondazione Spinola Banna (Poirino), dove a Giugno 2014 è stata nuovamente invitata per seguire quello sarà tenuto da Alberto Garutti.

Ha studiato presso il Goldsmiths College, University di Londra e la Slade School of Fine Art, Londra. Vive tra Londra e Parigi. Like a Little Disaster and Omphalos are glad to present “2.141 The picture is a fact”, a new project curated by Giuseppe Pinto that will involve an important set of three young artists works - Lia Cecchin - Elisabeth S. Clark – Kriss Salmanis.
They are differentiating themselves in the national and international artistic scene: in searching for the properties and potentialities of lightly matters, invisibles, diluted in an ironic and conceptual ring. They explore shapes and boarders of images, its perception, presence-absence throughout a total dematerialization of the same work. The logic material-immaterial and visible-invisible of this landscape make possible a philosophical insight in connection between things, signs, languages and perception.
The practice of the three artists seems to be a aptitude of independent researchers that in an autonomous and non academic way pinpoint an incipit to carry on with an alternation of formality and fortuitousness.
A poetic that can be seen as an history made of a lots of pieces; the core is fleeting and just evoked. Cecchin, Clark and Salmanis challenge dogmas and stereotypes about art and artists. The stylistic accord and composition freedom characterize their way of acting, absorbing the past experiences – also very fresh – giving it back in a very personal way. They make esthetic and political reflections also using historical experiences, to go through others forms and thought fields. Group’s works seem to have an underlying theme: they “play” with the imperceptible limit, with the pair reality-illusion, object and his perception, visible-invisible and image and his story. Throughout an operation of a soft but progressive alienation, well known images become elusive. The complex visual connected with wonder and faced with imperceptible lightness, wonder all audience in front of uncertain objects.

In the project will be presented the audio-video installation “Long Day” 2012, made by the collaboration between Kriss Salmanis and Steve Roden.

In the same year he joined the project curated by Resò Meet Up (Torino) and attended the workshop held by Marta Kuzma at the Fondazione Spinola Banna (Poirino), where in June 2014 she was again invited to follow what will be held by Alberto Garutti.
