“L’Eredità dell’Arte. Mimmo Paladino – Mohanna Durra” avvicina un grande artista italiano e un grande artista giordano, entrambi affiancati da artisti emergenti dei due Paesi.

È l’importante mostra che verrà presentata alla Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts di Amman dal 25 novembre 2014 al 19 gennaio 2015.

“L’Eredità dell’Arte. Mimmo Paladino - Mohanna Durra” avvicina un grande artista italiano e un grande artista giordano, entrambi affiancati da artisti emergenti dei due Paesi.

Due sono gli obiettivi. Il primo è quello di presentare uno spaccato significativo dell’arte italiana e giordana contemporanee associando due figure di grande rilievo - che sin dagli anni Sessanta hanno segnato passaggi fondamentali nel sistema dell’arte internazionale - a generazioni di artisti emergenti che stanno disegnando una nuova costellazione, consona ai trend più recenti a livello mondiale.

Il secondo è di individuare le linee linguistiche e di pensiero comuni ai maestri e alle nuove generazioni, per riconoscere quali testimonianze intellettuali sono state trasmesse da due importanti “figure dell’arte” e come sono state raccolte, interiorizzate e rielaborate dalle generazioni successive.

“L’Eredità dell’Arte” prova, così, a ricucire la complessa rete di collegamenti e di rimandi tra i vari modi di confrontarsi e vivere l’arte, attraverso differenti prospettive generazionali. E mette in scena un ulteriore scambio culturale tra Italia e Giordania.

La mostra, ideata e realizzata dall’IGAV – Istituto Garuzzo per le Arti Visive con l’Ambasciata d’Italia ad Amman per celebrare in Giordania il Semestre italiano di Presidenza del Consiglio dell’Unione Europea e in collaborazione con la Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, espone opere di Mimmo Paladino e Mohanna Durra e lavori di artisti emergenti. Per la sezione italiana: Pasquale Palmieri, Lucio Perone, Peppe Perone. Per la sezione giordana: Tawfiq Al Sayed, Nabil Shehadeh e Omar Hamdan.

La selezione degli artisti emergenti è stata effettuata direttamente da Mimmo Paladino per la sezione italiana, curata da Angela Tecce, e da Mohanna Durra per quella giordana, curata da Khalid Khreis.

This exhibition will take place at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman from 25th November 2014 to 19th January 2015.

“The Heritage of Art. Mimmo Paladino, Mohanna Durra” compares a well known Italian artist with a prominent Jordanian artist, together with three respective followers.

The exhibition has two purposes. The first one is to provide a snapshot of contemporary Italian and Jordanian art by associating two major artists – who have both been closely linked to some of the fundamental phases of the international art scene since the 1970s – with the current generation of artists who are charting a new constellation that is aligned with the latest global trends.

The second purpose is to analyse some of the linguistic and conceptual approaches shared by the masters and their followers, with a view to understanding the analogies and intellectual legacies that these important “art figures” have left in their wake and which have been picked up, interiorised and re-worked by the following generations.

“The Heritage of Art” will endeavour to weave together the complex network of connections and cross-references between different modes of experiencing contemporary art from different generational perspectives, and in the process will implement another excellent cultural exchange between Italy and Jordan.

The exhibition is conceived and realized by IGAV - Istituto Garuzzo per le Arti Visive (The Garuzzo Institute for Visual Arts) with the Italian Embassy in Amman to celebrate the Semester of Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in cooperation with the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, where it will take place. The exhibition will feature works by the two masters Mimmo Paladino and Mohanna Durra alongside works by their followers. For the Italian section: Pasquale Palmieri, Lucio Perone, Peppe Perone. For the Jordanian section: Tawfiq Al Sayed, Nabil Shehadeh e Omar Hamdan.
