ANTONI MUNTADAS: LA METODOLOGIA DEL PROGETTO
THE METHODOLOGY OF THE PROJECT.
Antoni Muntadas will offer a comprehensive interpretation of his decades-long artistic trajectory, from the highly politicized environment of the 1970s to his most recent exhibitions. His work can be understood as an analysis of the linguistic and discursive mechanisms, which inform social experience.
Muntadas' artistic interventions have been extremely diverse, interviews, book production, archives, installations, direct intervention in public spaces both material and immaterial (the web). In the process he has always confronted power and its institutional expressions with the intention to deconstruct their hegemonic logic.
Moreover, one should keep in mind that he has always sought to analyze “the system” in all its guises; the market, the museum, art collecting, or the art world in general. Throughout his career Mutandas has relentlessly investigated the mechanisms of social introjection of messages.
Hence, the title: THE METHODOLOGY OF THE PROJECT.
Thus, we have both a constructive project and deconstructive one; a constant re-shufling of meanings, images, messages and spaces.
We can argue that Muntadas is constantly analyzing the implicit ideology of our society by means of a strategic critique. This, very briefly, will be the outline of his talk. Though directed first and foremost to all foreign students living in Milan the talk is open to the general public.
