Dorothy Circus Gallery is proud to present Tara Mcpherson’s First Solo Show in Rome which will be displayed from the next June 11th 2015 till September 26th in the Red Hall of the Gallery location.
The Brooklyn based artist, introduced to the italian public by Dorothy Circus Gallery on the early 2009 during the “Inside Nostalghia” group exhibition, made in collaboration with Jonathan LeVine , has been recently exhibited in Italy on 2013 for “Lacrima Aquarium”: an institutional group exhibition curated by Alexandra Mazzanti (Dorothy Circus Gallery) which brought to the stage 33 international artists with artworks inspired by the theme of Water, in the charming and exclusive location of the Acquario Romano.
Tara Mcpherson is one of the most impressive and original female artist from the pop surrealism art movement, true prime mover and master of the contaminated technique generated by the mix of the most refined illustration skills with the most patient and expert oil painting study. Since 2006 McPherson is a resident artist of Jonathan Levine Gallery and a leading artist of contemporary art magazine Juxtapoz.
I Know it By Heart is the title choosed by The artist for her first italian solo exhibition which will feature the artwork created and exhibited for “Scope Art Fair” exhibition in Miami, the “Quantum Dancer”. This oil on board painting represent the female divinity, an ethereal and mystical figure, which symbolizes the mystical power of creation and destruction. McPherson’s new body of work will turn out all the contents of the artist iconography with a newfound vision of Love and Creation that comes from the artist personal life experience of becoming a mother.
The Girl With No Heart, Orion, was born as a female figure with a heart-shaped void in her torso to represent resilience and strength not like a victim but as a beacon of light.
Now, with another surprising and charming color palette this female icon will move us and guide us through an unseen constellation of feelings and emotions.
The show will present 8 brand new pieces, created during the artist residency in Rome and a large selection of the most representative rock posters illustrated by the artist as the ones made for artists such as Death Cab fo Cutie, the Melvins, Beck, Franz Ferdinand...and many more.
During her stay in Rome, Tara McPherson will paint her first mural project in a very central area of the City, the piece will be part of the social activism releted street art project Spray 4 your rights.

La Dorothy Circus Gallery è orgogliosa di presentare la prima personale italiana
dell’ artista statunitense Tara Mc Pherson, che inaugurerà il prossimo 11 Giugno 2015 nella Red Hall della Galleria.
L’artista, con base a New York, introdotta sulla scena artistica italiana dalla Dorothy Circus Gallery nel 2009 durante la mostra collettiva “Inside Nostalghia”, realizzata in collaborazione con la Jonathan LeVine Gallery, ha recentemente esposto in Italia nel 2013 per “Lacrima Aquarium”: mostra istituzionale curata da Alexandra Mazzanti (Dorothy Circus Gallery) che ha portato in scena le opere di 33 artisti internazionali, tra i più celebri dalla scena internazionale, dedicate al tema dell’acqua nella suggestiva location dell’ Acquario Romano.
Tara McPherson è una delle più originali artiste femminili del movimento artistico del Pop Surrealism, pioniera ed esperta della tecnica mista generata dalla combinazione delle più raffinate capacità illustrative con lo studio meticoloso della pittura ad olio. Fin dal 2006 McPherson è rappresentata dalla Jonathan LeVine Gallery ed è artista principale della rivista di arte contemporanea Juxtapoz.
I Know It By Heart, è il titolo scelto dall’artista per la sua prima personale italiana che presenterà l’opera “Quantum Dancer”, realizzata ed esposta per “Scope Art Fair” in Miami. Il dipinto, olio su tavola rappresenta la divinità femminile, una figura eterea e spirituale, che simboleggia il potere mistico di creazione e distruzione. I nuovi lavori di Tara McPherson presenteranno tutti i contenuti iconografici propri dell’artista ma con una visione ritrovata dell’Amore e della Creazione generata dall’ esperienza personale dell’artista recentemente diventata madre.
La ragazza senza cuore, Orion, personaggio sempre presente nell’arte di Mcpherson, è nato come icona femminile, rappresenta la forza della donna e la volontà di ripresa, non si mostra mai vittima ma simbolo di speranza.
Con un altra sorprendente e affascinante pallette di colori questa figura dal cuore intagliato è pronta ad emozionarci per guidarci attraverso una nuova costellazione invisibile di sentimenti e percezioni. La mostra sarà composta da otto nuove opere inedite, realizzate durante la residenza a Roma dell’Artista e da una vasta selezione dei più celebri rock posters firmati McPherson come quelli realizzati per artisti come Death Cab fo Cutie, i Melvins, Beck, Franz Ferdinand ... e molti altri.
In occasione del la sua permanenza a Roma Tara McPherson realizzerà il suo primo Mural Project dedicato alla città di Roma che sarà parte del progetto di street art sociale Spray 4 Your Rights.
