Elzo Durt – Terroriste du Bonheur

La Nero Gallery è lieta di invitarvi al primo solo-show italiano di Elzo Durt,
Terroriste Du Bonheur.
L’artista di Bruxell mette in mostra più di ottanta opere tra serigrafie e stampe che racchiudono il suo percorso artistico, con più di venti opere inedite.
Le sue opere uniscono due immaginari quello punk e post-punk dai tratti irreverenti e surreali e, quello più razionale e geometrico del modernismo tedesco e della Art Nouveau.
Dai colori fluo e pastello le sue opere dissacranti e complesse, fanno entrare lo spettatore in un universo fantastico e psichedelico, in cui la cognizione della realtà si perde tra i colori e le immagini.
Elzo avvolge l’intera galleria con le sue innumerevoli opere, non dando spazio alla parete bianca ma in modo caleidoscopico la ricopre di colore ed immagini.

Terroriste Du Bonheur, esplora l’anima di musicista punk e quella di design e grafico di Elzo, le sue opere sono per la maggior parte immagini rubate alla vita quotidiana e ai media che elaborate e reinserite, diventano un nuovo bizzarro soggetto.
L’universo di Elzo intriga e affascina lo spettatore dando ad esso la chiave di lettura di un universo dai colori eccentrici ed irreali che ci conduce in un mondo enigmatico e sognante.

ELZO DURT
Elzo Durt è nato a Bruxelles nel 1980. Dopo di un’adolescenza passata tra skateboard e cultura punk, si diploma nel 2003 con una laurea in graphic design presso la Scuola di Ricerca Grafica (GraphicResearchSchool) a Bruxelles, inizia a inondare il Belgio con il suo immaginario psichedelico e punk.
Nel 2004 apre la sua galleria d’arte, Plin Tub, a Bruxelles, che è anche la sua casa editrice. Dà opportunità per esibire le sue opere e quelle dei suoi artisti preferiti. Allo stesso tempo diventa responsabile della comunicazione grafica al Recyclart, la mecca della cultura underground a Bruxelles. Fino al 2006 è stato anche il direttore artistico di Voxer magazine.
Nel corso degli anni rafforza la sua reputazione disegnando poster e copertine di album per svariati gruppi ed etichette Thee Oh Sees, Frustration, La Femme, Le Prince Harry, Magnetix, Jack of Heart, per nominarne alcuni. Egli ha inoltre realizzato le tavole da skate e snowboard per brand come Carhartt, Rome and Flip, e come Lacoste e Step Art.
L’universo allegramente morboso di Elzo può essere oggi visto su locandine di festival, poster, album, e giornali come Le Monde. Con le sue serigrafie, ha viaggiato per tutta Europa, e attraversato l’Atlantico esponendo anche negli Stati Unti.
Al “Jack of All Trades”, Elzo, e il suo amico parigino Froos, hanno lanciato la loro etichetta musicale “Teenage Menopause Records” nel 2011, registrando JC Satan, Scorpion Violente e Le Prince Harry. Questo gli ha ulteriormente fornito l’opportunità di continuare a coltivare i suoi grandi amori, il design di copertine per album, l’organizzazione di concerti e, soprattutto, far festa!

The artist from Bruxelles showcases more than eighty artworks among silk screening and printings which include his artistic path, featuring more than twenty unpublished artworks.

His works merge two types of imaginary: that punk and post-punk one with surreal and irreverent nuances and the more rational and geometric one from Germanic’s modernist and Art Nouveau. From fluo and pastel colors his desecrating and complex works, let the viewer enter into a fantastic and psychedelic universe, where the sense of reality lose itself between colors and pictures.

Elzo wraps the whole gallery with his innumerable artworks, not giving space at white all, but in kaleidoscope way covered it by color and pictures.

Terroriste Du Bonheur, explores the soul of Elso as a punk musician but also as a graphic designer, his artworks are for the most part pictures stolen from daily life and media which, ones developed and reinstated, become a new and bizarre subject.

Elzo’s universe intrigues and charms the viewer by giving him the key to an universe of odd and unreal colors which brings us into an enigmatic and dreamlike world.

ELZO DURT

Elzo Durt was born in Brussels in 1980. Following an adolescence drenched in skateboarding and punk culture , he graduated in 2003 with a degree in graphic design from the Ecole de RechercheGraphique (GraphicResearchSchool) in Brussels – and began to flood Belgium with his psychedelic and punkoïd images.
In 2004 he opened his art gallery – Plin Tub ‘- in Brussels, as well as his own publishing house – two opportunities to exhibit his artworks and those of his favorite artists. At the same time he became responsible for graphic commu­nication at Recyclart, the mecca to the Brussels underground culture. Up until 2006 he was also the artistic director of Voxer magazine.
Over the years he established his reputation for designing posters and album covers for many different bands and labels – Thee Oh Sees, Frustration, La Femme, Le Prince Harry, Magnetix, Jack of Heart, to name a few . He also designed visuals for skate- and snowboards brands such as Carhartt, Rome and Flip, and for clothing brands like Lacoste and Step Art.
Elzo’s cheerfully morbid universe can be seen today on magazine covers, festival posters, album covers, and new­spapers such as Le Monde. With his works printed on silkscreen, he traveled all over Europe, and even crossed the Atlantic to exhibit his artwork in the United States.
A Jack of all Trades, Elzo, and his Parisian friend Froos, launched their own Music label Teenage Menopause Re­cords in 2011, releasing records from, among others, JC Satan, Scorpion Violente and Le Prince Harry. This again provided him with an opportunity to pursue his greatest loves: designing album covers, organizing concerts and, above all, partying!
