THE HOUSE PROJECT

“Casa” non è solo il nome comune di una cosa. “Casa” è un’idea vasta e complessa che racchiude in sé molto altro, molto di più. Tempo, persone, fatti, sentimenti, sogni, immagini, ricordi, speranze. Una vita, tante vite. La vita.
Quando pensi alla tua vita, ti accorgi che la tua casa è la tua mente. E’ il luogo nel quale sei nato, cresciuto e dal quale non sei mai uscito. E’ lì che abiti, in solitudine ed in mezzo ad una moltitudine di individui e di oggetti. La porti sulle spalle, ne sei ospite ed architetto.
C’è un posto per tutto ed una stanza per ognuno. Anche per ciò che hai solo sognato o per coloro che hai dimenticato. Una cantina nella quale si accumula la storia, un piano terra aperto al passaggio di chiunque voglia entrare, un primo piano dove ti fanno compagnia solo i libri, ed un solaio vicino al cielo, abitato da esseri impalpabili come il pensiero.
E’ tanto reale e tanto immaginaria quanto una fotografia. E, alle pareti, ci sono fotografie che ti ricordano il tempo passato o annunciano quello ancora a venire. Tutte sono state scattate proprio lì, nella tua mente. Sono le stanze di un progetto, che è un autoritratto. Il progetto della tua casa.

Didi Bozzini:
All’epoca in cui uscire di casa gli sembrava ancora cosa ragionevole, ha svolto diverse attività. Ricercatore alla Sorbona, poi professore di filosofia, regista teatrale, produttore esecutivo e sceneggiatore di film pubblicitari, direttore di una galleria d’arte contemporanea, curatore di mostre e, perfino, responsabile del marketing di una squadra di calcio.
Dopo aver cambiato idea, si è ritirato nella sua casa di Parma, dalla quale esce raramente. Ha scritto e pubblicato un certo numero di libri che pochissimi hanno letto. Collabora regolarmente con la rivista on-line IFioridelMale.it

Roger Ballen:
Nato a New York del 1950, Roger Ballen vive a Johannesburg, in Sud Africa sin dal 1980.
Il fotografo ha studiato psicologia presso l'Università della California e in seguito conseguito il dottorato di ricerca presso la Colorado School of Mines, specializzandosi in Economia Minerale. Ballen è andato originariamente in Sud Africa per lavorare come geologo, ma il suo entusiasmo per la fotografia si rafforzò e ha continuato a scattare fotografie per più di trent'anni.
La prima esperienza di Ballen in fotografia è stata durante gli anni del college fu principalmente orientata politicamente e socialmente, con un punto di vista fotogiornalistico. Questa prospettiva ha continuato nelle sue opere preliminari scattate in Sud Africa, Con un atteggiamento empatico e giornalistico, Ballen ritrae i bianchi che vivono ai margini della società nelle città rurali remote. Queste opere sorprendenti ruppero un sacco di tabù e furono accolte con titubanza da parte del pubblico. Nel 2013 ha commentato: "Quando fu pubblicato, sono stato oggetto di un sacco di accuse. Ero considerato un informatore come Edward Snowden".
In seguito si trovò a diventare parte di una comunità che abitava all'interno di un magazzino a tre livelli a Johannesburg. Abitata da parte di coloro ai margini della società - lavoratori poveri, stregoni, criminali, individui e animali isolati - Ballen costruì un rapporto durante le sue frequenti visite, spesso quotidiane, ed è stato in grado di fotografare e registrare le loro condizioni primitive. Queste immagini potenti sono stati pubblicati in libri successivi Shadow Chamber (2005) e Boarding House (2009).
L’ultima serie, Asylum, vede il suo lavoro svilupparsi continuamente e ininterrottamente.
