Requiem è una performance in due atti che si sviluppano quasi contemporaneamente in due spazi diversi della Tenuta. Il pubblico sarà accompagnato alla cappella per assistere all'inizio della performance e successivamente sarà libero di spostarsi tra i diversi spazi per presenziare alle due parti.
Ideata da Carlos Motta e prodotta dall'Associazione Culturale dello Scompiglio, la performance è basata su un'interpretazione queer della morte e della resurrezione di Cristo, nel tentativo di mettere in questione, sotto questo specifico punto di vista, i loro effetti. Il video della performance sarà presentato in anteprima, in occasione di Carlos Motta: Requiem, la mostra personale dell'artista che aprirà al MALBA di Buenos Aires il prossimo 14 ottobre.
1_Mondo Invertito, nella cappella della Tenuta Dello Scompiglio, è una performance in cui due uomini sospendono l'artista a testa in giù, per i piedi, elevandolo ed invertendolo. Questa inversione di trenta minuti è ispirata alle pratiche di inversione e crocifissione bondage, ed è pensata in relazione al lavoro della teologa queer Marcella Althaus-Reid (1952 2009), che ha utilizzato storie legate al sesso per ripensare la dialettica di ciò che è considerato decente o indecente, analizzandole da una prospettiva che le ha rese per lo più marginali. In questo modo, il corpo nudo dell'artista, sospeso a testa in giù, può (letteralmente) evocare l'inversione di una visione del mondo normativa. Il corpo dell'invertito è qui equiparato al corpo (sessualizzato) di Cristo. In questa ottica, la performance si configura come un intervento iconografico delicato e forte allo stesso tempo, che si propone di emancipare il corpo dai discorsi legati ai concetti, riduttivi, di immoralità e perversione. Sotto il profilo formale, la performance è ispirata allo schema iconografico della Crocifissione di San Pietro di Caravaggio (1600-1) e di Guido Reni (1604-5).
2_Libera Me, negli spazi esterni della Tenuta Dello Scompiglio, è una performance canora ispirata al Libera me, tratto dal Requiem scritto da Gabriel Fauré, (1886-7), interpretato da Ernesto Tomasini, artista eclettico ed iconoclasta, che spazia con disinvoltura dal teatro classico alla performance, dalla musica davanguardia al cabaret alternativo. La sua rara e potente estensione canora di 4 ottave, si presterà ad un'esecuzione nello stile inconfondibile dell'artista, caratterizzato da una gestualità volutamente ridondante ed ostentatamente queer.
Il lavoro di Carlos Motta (Bogotà 1978, vive e lavora a New York), è stato presentato in numerosi musei europei e americani, tra cui: Tate Modern, Londra; New Museum, Guggenheim Museum e MoMA / PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York; Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia; Museo de Arte del Banco de la República, Bogotá; Museu Serralves, Porto; Museu dArt Contemporani de Barcelona; National Museum of Contemporary Art, Atene; Castello di Rivoli, Torino; CCS Bard Hessel Museum of Art, Annandale-on- Hudson; San Francisco Art Institute; Hebbel am Ufer, Berlino; Witte de With, Rotterdam; Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, Mexico City; e molti altri spazi pubblici, privati e indipendenti in tutto il mondo. Ha vinto il prestigioso Future Generation Art Prize del Pinchuk Art Centre di Kiev (2014).
Ernesto Tomasini ha interpretato ruoli da protagonista con compagnie di teatro sperimentale (Lindsay Kemp), in produzioni Off e sui grandi palcoscenici del teatro musicale. Al tempo stesso ha creato produzioni proprie, accolte con entusiasmo dal pubblico e dalla critica internazionali. Alla radio ha cantato, recitato ed è stato intervistato su tutti i canali della BBC, Classic FM, RAI Radio 3 e in stazioni nazionali in diversi paesi. Tomasini vanta collaborazioni con il padre della musica industrial Peter Christopherson ( fondatore dei Coil, Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle), con Julia Kent (Antony & the Johnsons), Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound) e con i Current 93. Come solista ha cantato il suo repertorio in alcuni fra i più prestigiosi teatri e musei londinesi; fra questi la Royal Albert Hall, il National Theatre, Tate Britain, National Portrait Gallery e in numerosi teatri storici in giro per il mondo.

Eddie Peake è un artista eclettico che utilizza diversi media, il cui lavoro, tuttavia, è profondamente radicato nell'attività performativa. Eddie Peake è nato a Londra nel 1981 e ha vissuto in Gerusalemme, Roma e Londra. Dopo essersi diplomato alla Slade School of Fine Art, nel 2006, ha realizzato una residenza presso la British School a Roma 2008-2009, e nel 2013 si è laureato con un master alla Royal Academy Schools di Londra. Requiem is a performance in two acts that develops simultaneously in two different areas of the Tenuta. The public will first be accompanied to the chapel for the beginning of the performance and then will be free to move between the two different spaces.
Requiem is based on a queer interpretation of the stories of the death and resurrection of Christ in an attempt to question their effect on the sustained exclusion of queer bodies and lives. The performances, which will also be filmed, will premiere as a three-channel installation on October 14 2016 as part of Carlos Motta: Requiem, Mottas solo exhibition at MALBA in Buenos Aires.
1_Mondo Invertito is a performative act where two men tie the artist down from his feet, elevate and invert him in the chapel at Tenuta Dello Scompiglio. This thirty-minute inversion is informed by the BDSM practices of inversion and crucifixion and it is also in conversation with the queer theological work of Marcella Althaus-Reid (1952 2009), who used sexual stories to rethink the dialectics of decency and indecency from perspectives that have mostly been rendered marginal. The naked body hanging upside down may (literally) evoke the reversal of a normative world-view. The body of the invert is equated here to the (sexualized) body of Christ. The performance is an iconographic intervention that is both delicate and forceful and aims at reclaiming the body from reductive discourses of immorality and perversion. The performance is formally based on Caravaggio's and Guido Reni's paintings "The Crucifixion of St. Peter".
2_Libera Me is vocal performance of "Libera Me" from Gabriel Fauré's Requiem (1886-7), by famed Italian singer Ernesto Tomasini. Tomasini is an iconoclast and eclectic artist, who moves with ease between classical theatre and performance and between contemporary music and alternative cabaret. Its rare and powerful singing extension of 4 octaves, will sing in the artist's unmistakable style, characterized by a deliberately redundant gestures and ostentatiously queer. Set in the outdoor areas of Tenuta dello Scompiglio, it will be performed simultaneously with the performance that takes place inside the chapel.
The work of Carlos Motta (Bogota 1978, lives and works in New York), has been exhibited in a number of European and American museums, among the others: Tate Modern, London; New Museum, Guggenheim Museum and MoMA / PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York; Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia; Museo de Arte del Banco de la República, Bogota; Museu Serralves, Porto; Museu dArt Contemporani de Barcelona; National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens; Castello di Rivoli, Turin; CCS Bard Hessel Museum of Art, Annandale-on- Hudson; San Francisco Art Institute; Hebbel am Ufer, Berlin; Witte de With, Rotterdam; Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, Mexico City; and many others public, private and independent spaces around the world.
He won the prestigious Future Generation Art Prize (2014).
Ernesto Tomasini played lead roles with experimental theatre companies (Lindsay Kemp), in Off-West End productions and on the West End. He went on to create his own shows to critical acclaim. On radio he has sung, acted and was interviewed on all the BBC stations, Classic FM and on national channels around the world; most notably on Radio 3 (Spain), RAI Radio 3 (Italy) and Radio New Zealand. Tomasini boasts collaborations with the late father of industrial music Peter Christopherson (founder of Coil, Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle), Julia Kent (Antony & the Johnsons), Andrew Liles (Nurse With Wound) and Current 93. As soloist he has sung his repertoire in London venues like the Royal Albert Hall, National Theatre, Tate Britain, National Portrait Gallery, and in historical theatres around the world.

Eddie Peake is an eclectic artist, whose work, whilst using diverse media, is however deeply rooted in performative activity. The ironic and provocative British artist usually explores different topics in his bold works, simultaneously defining the sphere of communication, the kaleidoscope of emotions, ambiguity and sexual identity, often in relation to the definitions of space. Mandami Una Foto Di Te Che Stai Succhiando Il Cazzo Di Qualcuno Per Favore Per Favore Per Favore, produced by the Associazione Culturale Dello Scompiglio, is an irreverent action, hence the title, in which music, sound, choreographed movement and voice, reflect on the intrinsic drama of the relationships and problems of sexual desires.
Eddie Peake was born in London in 1981 and has lived in Jerusalem, Rome and London. Having graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2006, he undertook a residency at the British School at Rome from 2008 to 2009, and in 2013 graduated with a Masters degree from the Royal Academy Schools, London. Recent performance projects include Barbican Center of London (2015), Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2015)The David Roberts Art Foundation (2012), The Tanks, Tate Modern in conjunction with the Chisenhale Gallery (2012); The Royal Academy of Arts (2012) Cell Project Space (2012) and Performa 13 (2013).
