Nero Gallery presenta Wood Veins, la seconda mostra personale dell’artista francese Veks Van Hillik a Roma.

La mostra rappresenta il consolidamento del legame artistico ed evolutivo dell’artista con la galleria. Emerge, ancora una volta, lo stile di Veks che è stato ampliato ed arricchito dalle molte mostre internazionali e dalle partecipazioni ai festival di Street Art , l’ultimo dei quali quello di Grenoble di questo giugno.

Wood Veins fa riemergere e sottolinea il forte rapporto che Veks ha con la natura e gli animali.
Il supporto usato, questa volta, per molte sue opere è un tronco di albero, enfatizzando così ancora di più i suoi personaggi per lo più animali, che si ritrovano dipinti dentro il loro habitat. Il tema è quello naturale, e il suo sfondo è quello di un bosco, i suoi abitanti sono i protagonisti: un po’ fantastici, un po’ demoniaci. Gli animali sono l’emblema dei suoi personaggi, come i pesci sempre presenti nell’iconologia di Veks, sono simbologie di purezza, fecondità e rinascita.

La mostra cerca di indagare i vari aspetti della natura inserendosi in un mondo fantastico, un immaginario lontano dal concetto di città che ci vuole sempre di più avvicinare ad una visione naturale e selvatica della vita, riportandosi ad un purezza infantile e primitiva, priva della frenesia e delle dinamiche metropolitane.

Biografia:
Veks Van Hillik è nato nel 1988, in un piccolo villaggio del sud-ovest della Francia. Influenzato dai suoi fratelli maggiori, inizia a disegnare in giovane età e trova la sua prima fonte d’ispirazione nella natura, nella sua fauna e nella flora circostante.

Veks sviluppa poi il suo stile: un onirico, surreale, integrando con altre varie influenze. Artisti come Gustave Doré, Ingres, Caravaggio, Dalì o Breton sono ispirazioni costanti, ma la sua opera si tinge anche dalla cultura pop, videogiochi, fumetti, street art e tatuaggi.

Dal 2010, quando ha fatto la sua prima mostra a Tolosa (dove attualmente vive e lavora), ha partecipato a numerose mostre in tutta la Francia. Recentemente, la sua opera ha attraversato i confini attraverso rate alla Galleria MondoPOP di Roma (Italia) nel 2012 e di Salerno, il Gristle Tattoo Gallery di Brooklyn (New York, U.S.A) e Melbourne (Australia) nel 2013. OPENING Saturday 24 of September 2016 h. 8.00 p.m at NERO GALLERY

Nero Gallery presents Wood Veins, the second solo show in Rome of the French artist Veks Van Hillik from September 24 to October 29.

The exhibition represents the consolidation of the connection and evolution between the gallery and the artist. Once again Veks’ work is brought to the eternal city which has now been expanded and enriched because of the evolution and growth of the artists in the past few years due to many international exhibitions and participations in Street Art Festivals of which the latest has been the Grenoble Festival in June.

In Wood Veins, Veks underlines and expresses his strong relationship with nature and animals. The tree trunk is a returning element in the works of the exhibiton, emphasizing his animals characters found in their natural habitat.
The environment is the forest with its inhabitants as the protagonists: a little bit of fantasy and a little bit of demonacy. Veks’ animals are the symbol for purity, fertility and rebirth.

The exhibition experiments with the borders between nature and fantasy, moving away from the concept of an imaginary city and making our fantasy closer to a world that we recognize taking us back to a childlike purity and primitivity and escaping from daily metropolitan chaos.

Biography:
Veks Van Hillik was born in 1988, in a small village of the South-West of France. Influenced by his elder brothers, he takes up drawing at a young age and finds his first source of inspiration from the nature surrounding him, its fauna and flora.
Veks later develops his own style: an oneiric, surreal one, while integrating other various influences. Artists such as Gustave Doré, Ingres, Caravaggio, Dali or Breton are constant inspirations from the past centuries but, as cursed by his generation, his work is also tinged by pop culture, video games, comics, street art and tattoos.
Since 2010, when he did his first exhibition in Toulouse (where he now lives and works), he has taken part in many exhibitions throughout France. Recently, his work crossed borders through installments at the MondoPop Gallery of Rome (Italy) in 2012 and Salerno, the Gristle Tattoo Gallery in Brooklyn (New York) and Melbourne (Australia) in 2013. Each painting or drawing from Veks Van Hillik presents itself like an ode to fantasy, like a secret window to his dreams and chimeras, of which each scene and character is a subtle mixture of innocence and darkness.
