La galleria collicaligreggi ha il piacere di presentare la seconda mostra personale di Nicola Pecoraro dal titolo Low Pass che si terrà dal 24 febbraio 2017 al 15 aprile 2017.
L’artista presenta per questo nuovo progetto un gruppo di opere fotografiche stampate su velluto, e una serie di sculture prodotte utilizzando materiale plastico industriale.
Come in tutto il suo lavoro le opere sono viste come scorie di un processo in continuo movimento, dell’attrito che genera tra un’idea e il tentativo di renderla materiale.
Il titolo, Low Pass, fa riferimento al taglio della frequenza, una tecnica di equalizzazione o filtraggio del suono in cui uno spettro di frequenza, nello specifico quello alto, viene tagliato o filtrato, facendo passare solo le basse frequenze, e producendo un suono più pastoso e opaco.
In generale, il risultato comporta una perdita di informazioni rispetto alla fonte originale.
Le stampe su velluto sono realizzate utilizzando foto provenienti dall’archivio dell’artista. In queste l’immagine originaria subisce una serie di processi che determinano il suo estraniamento dal contesto originale e una conseguente alterazione del contenuto. Diventano dei contenitori di informazioni, un flusso di immagini in continuo divenire vista l’iridescenza del velluto che ne cambia continuamente la forma in base al punto di vista dell’osservatore.
Le sculture in plastica sono similmente frutto di un processo di filtraggio (provengono da scarti di lavorazioni della plastica in un impianto di riciclaggio), dunque di equalizzazione; sono moduli, combinabili fra loro o con elementi esterni.
Essi sono il risultato di un’interruzione di flusso (plastica fusa liquida, si solidifica raffreddandosi), mantengono un aspetto che ricorda l’organico, pur rimanendo poco rappresentativi e avulsi da un contesto.

Galleria Collicaligreggi is pleased to present the second solo show of Nicola Pecoraro entitled Low Pass from February 24, 2017 to April 15, 2017.
For this new project, the artist is presenting a group of photographs printed on velvet and a series of sculptures produced using industrial plastic materials.
As in all his projects, the works themselves are seen as the waste product of a process in perpetual motion, of a friction between the idea and its attempted material rendering.
The title of the show, Low Pass, refers to a cutting of the frequency, a technique of equalization or sound filtering in which the high end of the frequency spectrum is cut or filtered out and only low frequencies are let through, producing a thick and more opaque sound.
In general, the result involves a loss of information with respect to the original source.
The prints on velvet were made using photos from the artist’s archives. In these prints, the original image undergoes a series of processes that lead to its estrangement with respect to the original context and, consequently, to alteration of the content. They become information containers, a flow of images in continuing mutation given the iridescence of the velvet, which changes form continuously depending on the observer’s point of view.
Similarly, the sculptures of plastic are the outcome of a filtering process (they come from discards in a recycling facility of the plastic making process), thus of equalization, so they are modules that can be combined with one another or with external elements.
They are the result of an interruption of the flow (liquid melted plastic that solidifies as it cools down), they maintain an appearance that might recall organic forms, while restricted to a low level of representation and, in any case, detached from any particular context.
