The Orange Garden è fiero di presentare la prima mostra personale di Costanza Chia. L’inaugurazione di HUMANS:BEHAVE si terrà lunedì 5 giugno 2017 alle 18:30 a Via della Penitenza 35, Roma. La mostra continuerà fino al 8 giugno 2017.
Nulla va oltre la portata dell’uomo e quasi nessuna forma vitale sfugge al segno chimico dell’attività umana. Quella che una volta appariva come una fonte silenziosa ora ha alzato la voce. Ci chiede di ubbidire a un’ecologia in cui non è solo l’umanità ad essere assoggettata ai ritmi della natura ma è la natura che si assoggetta al comportamento umano.

L’Antropocene – il periodo in cui l’antropogenico ha avuto il suo più grande effetto sulla natura – giunge alla sua fine. L’umanità se ne sta rendendo conto ma il pastorale non sembra ancora risorto. Arcadia esiste solamente sugli schermi dei Macbook, nei negozi elettronici, o come visione da una finestra di aereo offuscata dalla nebbia. La gerarchia delle immagini è ridotta ormai all’idioma del salvaschermo. Le opere di Costanza Chia vogliono cambiare tutto questo.

Costanza Chia, nata nel 1996, vive e lavora tra Roma e Londra.

HUMANS:BEHAVE

The Orange Garden is proud to announce the first solo show of Costanza Chia. The inauguration of HUMANS:BEHAVE will take place on the 5th of June at 18:30, on Via della Penitenza 35 in Rome. The exhibition will run until the 8th of June 2017.

Nothing lies beyond the human reach , and barely any life-form exists without the chemical markers of human activity. What once appeared to us as a silent source has now gained a voice. It asks us to abide by an ecology in which it is not just humanity that is contingent upon the seasons of nature, but nature that is contingent upon human behaviour.

The Anthropocene – the period in which the anthropogenic has had the greatest impact upon nature – draws to a close. Humanity is becoming conscious of it, and yet the pastoral has undergone no great resurgence. The hierarchy of images has tumbled down to the idiom of the screensaver. Arcadia exists only on the displays of MacBooks, in electronic stores, or as a view from the window of an aeroplane, fringed with clouds. Costanza Chia’s artworks intend to rectify this.

Costanza Chia was born in 1996, works and lives between London and Rome.
