Una sorta di antologica che racchiude varie serie, da Testament to love (2013) a Korea (2013), The Act (2016) fino all'ultima serie Old Father Thames (2018). La fotografia di Julia Fullerton-Batten è staged: per ognuno dei soggetti ritratti e sulla base dei loro racconti l’artista ricrea meticolosamente dei sofisticati set. La dimensione della finzione è enfatizzata dall’utilizzo di luci cinematografiche che la pongono nella scia di grandi nomi quali Gregory Crewdson o Erwin Olaf, ma ogni serie si ispira ad un periodo o evento storicamente preciso, con un risvolto spesso sociale e documentato da studi e ricerche che ne fanno una fotografa antropologa, interessata a raccontare le storie dell'Uomo, pur in una forte impronta estetica a cavallo tra arte, cinema e moda.

mc2gallery presents the exhibition THE SHOW, by Julia Fullerton-Batten (born in 1970) curated by Claudio Composti. A sort of anthology that contains various series, from Testament to love (2013) to Korea (2013), The Act (2016) to the last series Old Father Thames (2018). The stories of Julia Fullerton-Batten are a built as a staged photography: for each of the subjects portrayed and based on their stories, the artist meticulously recreates sophisticated sets. The mood of fiction is emphasized by the use of movie-lights that place it in the wake of big names such as Gregory Crewdson or Erwin Olaf, but each series is inspired by a period or event historically accurate, often with a social implication and documented by studies and research that makes her an anthropologist, interested in telling the stories of Man, even if in a strong aesthetic imprint between art, cinema and fashion.
