Comunicato stampa
Spazio Maiocchi is thrilled to reopen its doors from 4–11 June, accessible in limited groups in observance of social distancing measures.
Throughout the week, from 11 AM – 6.30 PM, our storefront space Artifact will serve as the main entrance to the space, while also turning into a pop-up shop for KALEIDOSCOPE's newly-released SS20 issue featuring the magazine and limited-edition merchandise.
In the main gallery, a video installation of Clemens von Wedemeyer's Transformation Scenario (2018) will mark the kickoff of Afterimage, Spazio Maiocchi’s new online platform dedicated to moving image works that leave a lasting impression. In this recent film, the German artist/filmmaker examines the power structures in group dynamics, social behavior, surveillance and mass manipulation.
To celebrate the launch of Afterimage, von Wedemeyer's video will be available to experience both in the digital and physical space; to follow, over the course of the summer, a selection of video works curated by KALEIDOSCOPE will be released online bi-weekly—aiming to carve out a space for meaningful and immersive viewing amid today's overwhelming amount of visual stimuli.
Meanwhile in the courtyard of the space, a new billboard commission by Sucuk und Bratwurst will introduce the Berlin-based creative studio, taking over the @spaziomaiocchi Instagram account with a survey of their mesmerizing work in 3d creation, digital animation and sound design. The digital residency accompanies an online workshop presented in partnership with Valentino.
