SWING Design Gallery presenta MEDUSA, la prima collezione di vasi, progettata e realizzata dalla designer Sarah-Linda Forrer in esclusiva per la Galleria. Ispirati alle morfologie e alle trame stratificate delle creature oceaniche, i vasi si caratterizzano per forme morbide e smalti testurizzati, che conferiscono spessore alle superfici. Utilizzando un approccio sperimentale, ogni dettaglio formale è accuratamente realizzato a mano e deformato fino a raggiungere il giusto equilibrio tra natura e manufatto. Stratificando diversi smalti e trame, la superficie diventa una pelle complessa e irregolare sull’oggetto. La collezione si ispira a sagome femminili arcaiche e dettagli organici, traducendosi in una serie di oggetti che oscillano tra manufatti e reperti naturali. Una celebrazione della natura ma senza copiarla letteralmente, la collezione Medusa ci ricorda la bellezza elementale e autentica delle nostre origini e l’importanza di apprezzare e coesistere con il nostro ambiente naturale circostante. Nel suo studio di design di Amsterdam, Sarah-Linda Forrer crea oggetti unici e in edizione limitata, coniugando materiali preziosi e organici.

Sarah-Linda Forrer è nata a Carcassonne nel 1990. Vive e lavora ad Amsterdam. Nata e cresciuta nei Pirenei francesi, è sempre stata ispirata dai dettagli della natura. Con il suo modo di lavorare intuitivo e sperimentale cerca una nuova bellezza. Affascinata dai rituali della gente, cerca di suscitare attenzione verso i momenti dimenticati e dettagli che influenzano la nostra vita quotidiana, innescando l’immaginazione con il suo lavoro. Sarah-Linda Forrer si è laureata alla Design Academy di Eindhoven nel dicembre 2013, dipartimento Man & Identity, dove ha sviluppato un modo sperimentale e concettuale di lavorare, la sensibilità per i colori e i materiali e un’attrazione per le tendenze. Insieme a Stella Derkzen fonda Studio Haze nel 2015: uno studio di design sperimentale che si concentra sul disegno di motivi e superfici per applicazioni di interni, di prodotti e di moda.

SWING Design Gallery presents MEDUSA, the first collection of vases, designed and made by the designer Sarah-Linda Forrer exclusively for the Gallery. Inspired by the morphologies and layered textures of ocean creatures, the vases feature soft forms and texturised glazes, adding depth to their surfaces. Making use of an experimental approach, each shape is carefully hand-built and deformed to find the right balance between nature and artefact. By layering different glazes and textures, the surface becomes a detailed, irregular skin on the object. The collection plays with archaic feminine silhouettes and organic finishes to become a series of objects hovering between artefacts and natural findings. An ode to nature without copying it literally, the Medusa collection reminds us of the elemental, raw beauty of our origins, and the importance of appreciating and co-existing with our natural surroundings. Combining luxurious and organic materials, Sarah-Linda Forrer creates one-of-a-kind and limited edition objects in her design studio in Amsterdam.

Sarah-Linda Forrer was born in Carcassonne, France, in 1990. She lives and works in Amsterdam. Born and raised in the French Pyrenees, she has always been inspired by the details of nature. With her intuitive and experimental way of working, she looks for new beauty. Fascinated by people's rituals, she strives to create sensitivity to the forgotten moments and details that shape our daily lives, using her work to trigger the imagination. Sarah-Linda Forrer graduated in December 2013 from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Man & Identity department, where she developed an experimental and conceptual way of working, sensitivity for colours and materials, and an attraction to trends. With Stella Derkzen, she founded Studio Haze in 2015: an experimental design studio that focuses on the design of patterns and surfaces for interior, product, and fashion applications.
