Villa Filanda Antonini - VFA - is an artist residency space conceived and directed by Giulio Feltrin and supported by Arper Feltrin Foundation. The latter is a nonprofit organization established at the initiative of the founding family of the design company Arper. In 2021 it supported the establishment of VFA in an old spinning mill located in Villorba, near the city of Treviso. The VFA project, aiming to orient itself toward transdisciplinary experimentation through the languages of contemporary art, occasionally hosts exhibition programmes and opens its doors to the general public. By bringing together art world professionals and enthusiasts, VFA aims to promote a more inclusive dialogue that accommodates knowledge and cultures in their multiple diversities.

"Il Suo Buio Speciale / Its Special Darkness" is Mattia Balsamini and Pietro Minto's art project that deepens a desire, already established with Alessandro Calabrese's residency, to create a dialogue with the territory, in relation to ideas surrounding identity. Mattia Balsamini and Pietro Minto, via thirteen landscape photographs and thirteen individual portraits, embark on a path of research on the identity of the Northeastern territory and, through their investigation, tell the story of a region that has undergone a profound cultural and social transformation over the last fifty years, also through the dialogue with professionals and Venetian excellences who distinguish themselves in humanistic or scientific fields. The following profiles and landscape photographs taken by Balsamini become - side by side with Minto's words - a tool through which to enter into dialogue with the territory and portray its history: a place that has always been characterised by the competitive logics of making, of producing, and that today, having exhausted the possibilities of exploiting material resources alone, must transform sweat-based work into another kind of commitment, giving new and legitimate dignity to "thinking".
