The Museum of London dedica una mostra al celebre album della rock band inglese, presentando cimeli e strumenti musicali appartenuti ai The Clash

Quarant’anni fa, esattamente nel dicembre 1979, veniva pubblicato un album che sarebbe passato alla storia della musica, considerato uno dei più grandi dischi rock di tutti i tempi, oltre ad aver lasciato un segno indelebile nella cultura e nella società di quegli anni. Stiamo parlando di London Calling, terzo album della iconica punk rock band inglese The Clash. In occasione di questo speciale anniversario, al The Museum of London è in corso – fino al 19 aprile 2020 – The Clash: London Calling, mostra a ingresso gratuito che presenta una collezione di oltre 150 oggetti dell’archivio dei The Clash. Fotografie, musica, strumenti, taccuini, capi di abbigliamento, video e documenti dell’epoca raccontano così la genesi e il successo di London Calling e il modo in cui Londra abbia influenzato l’opera dei The Clash. Tra i cimeli in mostra, spiccano il Fender Precision Bass che Paul Simonon fracassò sul palco del Palladium di New York nel 1979; una nota scritta da Mick Jones indicante la sequenza dei brani del doppio album London Calling; uno dei taccuini di Joe Strummer risalente al periodo in cui l’album venne registrato; le bacchette di Topper Headon; le fotografie di Pennie Smith apparse nei dischi di London Calling.
