Alessandro Simonini – Judge-Ment

La metafora evangelica della pagliuzza e della trave (Mt 7, 1-5) esprime una legge psicologica a cui nessuno può sfuggire: se giudichiamo gli altri alimentiamo dentro di noi il senso del giudizio, cioè la convinzione che nel mondo ci possa effettivamente essere qualcosa di brutto o di sbagliato. Eppure nell’Universo accade ciò che deve accadere, e il senso di ciò che è giusto e sbagliato è unicamente frutto della mente umana, che per sua natura divide in due ciò che è Uno.

Nell’Arcano XX dei Tarocchi, l’Arcangelo Michele scende dal cielo suonando la tromba e risveglia i morti dalle loro tombe, per sottoporli al Giudizio Universale. Eppure, non è tanto il giudizio alla fine dei tempi che temiamo, quanto la sua esistenza al nostro interno e influenza nel quotidiano: ogni nostro schema di pensiero su come dovrebbe essere il mondo nasconde un giudizio. In JUDGE-MENT, installazione e performance agiscono insieme sullo spettatore, come uno specchio doppiamente rivolto verso l’esterno e verso l’interno dall’artista. La realtà è una nostra proiezione e giudicando gli altri condanniamo sempre solo noi stessi, cioè aspetti della nostra psiche che non accettiamo. Tale analogia, che in “secoli bui” ben pochi ha risparmiato, formalmente si riflette sull’intera mostra. Nella ricerca di Alessandro Simonini JUDGE-MENT è una tappa, che anticipa e sottintende un’azione psicomagica di Rinascita; un ritorno all’Uno del Mago…

Il suo lavoro si articola attraverso diversi linguaggi che includono la scultura, il video, il suono, la performance e l'installazione. Il «progetto» è l’ombra del suo vissuto esattamente come l’esistenza è una possibilità di rapporti che l’uomo può determinare, è trascendersi, pro-gettarsi. Dunque l’evoluzione di un progetto rappresenta, e con essa le sue opere, un modo di essere-nel-mondo. Si definisce un ricercatore ancor prima di artista, ricreando quello spazio dove l’auto consapevolezza e simbolo interagiscono alchemicamente con lo spettatore.

Alessandro Simonini (Modena IT, 1985) vive e lavora a Milano.

Nel 2008 si è laureato in Filosofia all’Alma Mater Studiorum di Bologna e ha studiato recitazione presso la Scuola di Teatro Louis Jouvet. Nel 2011 vince il Premio della critica Next Generation 2011, Premio Patrizia Barlettani, Fabbrica Boprroni, Milano, a cura di Roberto Milani. Nel 2012 ha conseguito la Laurea Magistrale in Arti Visive (DAMS) a Bologna. Tra le mostre personali più recenti: Merry Apocalypse!! In the XX Arcanum of the Tarot, the Archangel Michael descends from the sky playing the trumpet and awakens the dead from their graves, to subject them to the Last Judgment. Yet we don’t really fear the judgment at the end of the times as much as its existence within ourselves and its influences in our everyday life. Judgement is hidden in our ideas on how the world should be. In JUDGE-MENT, installation and performance work together on the viewer, like a mirror facing both the outside and the inside. The parable of the Mote and the Beam (Mt 7: 1-5) expresses a psychological law that no one can escape: if we judge others we feed within ourselves the ‘sense of judgment’, the belief that there is actually something bad or wrong in the world. Still in the Universe happens what must happen, and the sense of what is right or wrong exists only within the human mind, that divides into two what is One. Reality is our projection and when we judge others we condemn only ourselves, or better aspects of our psyche that we don’t accept. This analogy, that in “dark ages” spared only few people, is reflected on the entire exhibition. In Alessandro Simonini’s research, JUDGE-MENT is only a stage that anticipates and implies a psychomagic action of Rebirth; a return to the One of the Magician...

His work is articulated through different media that include sculpture, video, sound, performance and installation. The «project» is the shadow of his experience exactly how existence is a possibility of relationships that man can determine, is transcend, throw-forward himself. So the processing of an artistic project represents for him a way of being-in-the-world. In his own work, he defines himself as researcher even before an artist, re-creating a space where self awareness and symbol interact alchemically with the spectator.

Alessandro Simonini (Modena IT, 1985) lives and works in Milan. In 2008 he graduated in Philosophy (Aesthetics) at the Alma Mater Studiorum of Bologna and he studied acting at School of Theatre Louis Jouvet. In 2011 he wins the critics’ award Next Generation 2011, Premio Patrizia Barlettani, Fabbrica Borroni, Milan, curated by Roberto Milani. In 2012 he graduated in Visual Arts (DAMS), University of Bologna. For solo exhibitions include among others: Merry Apocalypse!!
