Un progetto di ar/ge kunst e Lungomare

ar/ge kunst e Lungomare invitano Can Altay per un progetto di residenza comune che porterà l'artista turco a Bolzano nel 2014, 2015 e 2016 per una collaborazione a lungo termine con le due istituzioni ed il territorio. Il tema della residenza è "Ospitalità Radicale" e invita il residente a confrontarsi e interpretare in termini radicali le questioni legate all'ospitalità intesa come spazio relazionale e sociale, come condizione temporanea e come rapporto che definisce al suo interno dinamiche di potere.

Can Altay è un artista che vive a Istanbul. I suoi lavori si concentrano su funzioni, significato, organizzazione e riconfigurazione dello spazio pubblico. In particolare gli interventi di Altay forniscono una riflessione critica sui fenomeni urbani e sulla loro relazione con l'attività artistica. Mostre personali (selezione): Arcade, London (2013), Casco, Utrecht (2011), The Showroom, London (2010); mostre colletive (selezione): Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), VanAbbe Museum (Eindhoven), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Artist Space (New York); partecipazioni alle biennali di Istanbul, Havana, Busan, Gwangiu, Marrakech, Taipei.

RADICAL HOSPITALITY: CAN ALTAY
Ein Projekt von ar/ge kunst und Lungomare

ar/ge kunst und Lungomare laden den türkischen Künstler Can Altay für ein Residency-Projekt nach Bozen ein. Das Künstlergespräch Anfang Oktober 2014 ist der Anfang eines langfristigen Projektes, in dem sich Can Altay von 2014 bis 2016 mit dem Territorium Südtirol auseinandersetzt. Das Thema der Residency ist "Radical Hospitality" und lädt den Gast ein, sich grundlegend mit Fragen der Gastfreundschaft auseinander zu setzen und diese zu hinterfragen. Gastfreundschaft beschreibt in diesem Zusammenhang den relationalen und sozialen Raum als temporäre Kondition, sowie als Verhältnis, das einer Machtverhandlung unterliegt.

Can Altay ist Künstler, er lebt und arbeitet in Istanbul. Er beschäftigt sich in seiner Arbeit mit den Funktionen und Bedeutungen, mit der Organisation und Rekonstruktion des öffentlichen Raumes. Altays Interventionen betreffen insbesondere städtebauliche Phänomene und ihr Verhältnis zur künstlerischen Arbeit. Einzelausstellungen bei Arcade, London (2013), Casco, Utrecht (2011), The Showroom, London (2010) und Gruppenausstellungen am Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), VanAbbe Museum (Eindhoven), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Artist Space (New York) und Teilnahmen an den Biennalen in Istanbul, Havana, Busan, Gwangiu, Marrakech, Taipei.

RADICAL HOSPITALITY: CAN ALTAY

ar/ge kunst and Lungomare invite Turkish artist Can Altay to Bolzano for a long term residency project from 2014 through 2016. The residency is dedicated to "Radical Hospitality" and invites the resident to approach and interpret radically questions linked to hospitality as a relational and social space, as a temporary condition and as a relationship that defines power dynamics.

Can Altay is an artist living in Istanbul. He investigates the functions, meaning, organisation and reconfigurations of public space. His ‘settings’ provide critical reflection on urban phenomena and artistic activity. His work traverses sculpture, photography and installation, and is staged and manifested through the spaces, exhibitions and publications he produces. Solo exhibitions at Arcade, London (2012), Casco, Utrecht (2011), The Showroom, London (2010). His work has been included in Biennials of Istanbul, Havana, Busan, Gwangju, Marrakech, Taipei; and in museums and galleries such as the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis), VanAbbe Museum (Eindhoven), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Artists Space (New York), and SALT (Istanbul)
