In occasione della mostra di Ed Atkins, il Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea organizza un imperdibile incontro con Beatrix Ruf, direttrice del museo Stedelijk di Amsterdam e curatore di un’importante personale dedicata all’artista inglese nel 2015.
In conversazione con Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, direttrice del Castello di Rivoli, Ruf parlerà della sua esperienza come direttrice di uno dei più importanti musei, del suo modo di immaginare l’istituzione, della nozione di archivio e del concetto di responsabilità oggi. L’incontro sarà occasione per approfondire la visione radicale di una delle figure più influenti del mondo dell’arte contemporanea.

On the occasion of the exhibition by Ed Atkins, the Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea organizes an unmissable talk with Beatrix Ruf, director of Stedeljik Museum in Amsterdam and curator of an important solo show dedicated to the English artist in 2015.
In conversation with Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, director of the Castello di Rivoli, Ruf will talk about her experience as a director of one of the main museums: her way to imagine the institution, the notion of archive and the concept of responsibility today. The conference will be the occasion to deepen the radical point of view of one of the most influential figures of the contemporary art world.

Beatrix Ruf (Singen, Germania, 1960), è direttore dello Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Dopo aver completato gli studi, è stata curatore presso il Kunstmuseum Thurgau, Warth dal 1994 al 1998 e direttore del Kunsthaus Glarus, Glarus, dal 1998 al 2001. Nel 2001, Ruf è stata nominata direttore della Kunsthalle di Zurigo, per la quale ha supervisionato un significativo progetto di espansione lanciato nel 2003 e concluso nel 2012. Nel 2006, ha curato la terza edizione della Tate Triennial a Londra e nel 2008 ha co-curato la Yokohama Triennial. E’ membro del ristretto nucleo di esperti del LUMA Foundation dal 2010. Nel 2013 Ruf ha co-fondato POOL, un corso di laurea specialistica in studi curatoriali a Zurigo. Ruf è membro di numerosi comitati consultivi e direttivi, tra i quali: Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, Garage Moskow, MAXXI Roma, Samdami Foundation, Bangladesh; prende spesso parte come membro di giuria di diversi premi fra i quali Hugo Boss Prize del Guggenheim Museum, l'Absolut Award, il Han Nefkens/MACBA Award, l'Erasmus Prize, il Prix de Rome e recentemente il Turner Prize.

Beatrix Ruf (Singen, Germany, 1960), is the Director of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. After completing her studies, she was Curator at Kunstmuseum Thurgau, Warth from 1994-1998 and Director of Kunsthaus Glarus, Glarus from 1998-2001. In 2001, Ruf was appointed Director of Kunsthalle Zürich, overseeing a substantial expansion project launched in 2003 and concluded in 2012. In 2006, she curated the third edition of the Tate Triennial in London and in 2008 she was Co-Curator of the Yokohama Triennial. She has been a member of the think tank core group of the LUMA foundation since 2010. In 2013 Ruf co-founded POOL, a postgraduate curatorial program in Zürich. Ruf is a Member of several Advisory and Programme Committees amongst others: the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, Garage Moskow, MAXXI, Rome, the Samdani Foundation, Bangladesh and serves frequently as a jury member in award committees, among them the Guggenheim Museum’s Hugo Boss Prize, the Absolut Award, the Han Nefkens/MACBA Award, Erasmus Prize, the Prix de Rome and recently the Turner Prize.
