Mary Shangyu Cai, deeply inspired by nature and literature, interacts with the dynamic energy pulsating through humanity and landscape, blending the defining elements of both realms. Her art is imbued with positive and spontaneous energy, reflecting the vital momentum present in every mortal being. She uses veiled tones derived from natural light to represent the vitality and resilience inherent in nature. Her works are a visual narrative of the intersection between human hope, vitality, and the ethereal charm of landscapes. Shangyu Cai’s paintings are also a gentle invitation to explore and appreciate the intrinsic value of life and the profound connection we share with the extraordinary natural environment that surrounds us.
Benedetta Giampaoli focuses her research on the need to retrace personal suggestions through painting. The intention is to approach a fluid representation, free from specific temporal constraints, as the images need to be safeguarded from the inexorable flow of time. Each of these images never resolves within the limits of the pictorial surface but requires continuation onto the next canvas to be better understood. Between the everyday and the fantastical, twilight skies and dim lights, sinister figures and a shower of graceful flowers, Giampaoli unveils the ominous and profound inner labyrinth, akin to a leap into the unknown where our deepest thoughts reside.
Finally, Sofia Muljat, inspired both by personal experiences and her psychology degree, has established a close relationship with issues related to mental health and the influence that mind and body have on each other and vice versa. Hence her interest in how art and psyche intersect, between consciousness and instinct, emotions and bodily reactions, unknown and paradox. Through the use of oils and acrylics on canvas, she creates universes rich in overlaps, layers to immerse oneself in and then get lost. The recurrence of gestures in various sizes, colour scales, and depths produces organic, undulating forms, and translucent transparencies. This propels Sofia Muljat towards a distinctive representation of the intricacies of mental structures, culminating in a deluge of abstract thoughts. This emphasis on the incorporeal hemisphere reveals the most concealed and mysterious recesses within.
