C2C Festival 2023
Ventunesima edizione per il festival musicale di avant-pop. Quest’anno l’headquarter è presso Combo.
Comunicato stampa
The 21st edition of C2C Festival will be held in
November in the context of Turin’s prestigious
Contemporary Art Week. More than 35,000
participants from all over the world are expected
to attend this year’s avant-pop event which was
recently featured in Pitchfork’s list of the 30
Best Music Festivals of 2023. C2C Festival flies
the flag as the one Italian event on the list.
C2C Festival will take place over four days, from
2-5 November, in various locations across the city
including the magnificent OGR and the Lingotto,
where the avant-garde production of the festival will
once again reach new heights.
The line-up features avant pop, r&b, electronic, rock,
experimental, rap, jazz, post-punk music will see
the return of artists to C2C Festival including Flying
Lotus, Yves Tumor, Avalon Emerson, Bill Kouligas,
Evian Christ, Space Afrika and Two Shell alongside a
slew of artists making their festival debuts - Caroline
Polachekv King Krulev Moodymann, Overmono,
Bambii, Hagop Tchaparian, Honour, Lucrecia Dalt,
Marina Herlop, Model/Actriz, Nick León, Rachika
Nayar, Sangre Nueva, Shabjdeed, Al Nather, Daboor
& Mouri, Slauson Malone 1 and Tzusing.
C2C Festival adds nine new acts and ten shows
to the programme, six of which will be Italian
exclusives. One of the new additions is
Slauson Malone 1, a project led by New York
based artist and musician, Jasper Marsalis that
explores the potential intersections between
popular music and performance art.
Following this, is the live debut of Avalon Emerson
& The Charm. This performance is based on the title
of the recent and inspired album of Balearic dream
pop by the much lauded DJ and techno producer
Avalon Emerson, who will also be performing a
DJ set at the festival.
British duo Two Shell are set to make a mischievous
return, having been among the standout acts at the
previous edition. After several years of silence, we
will also see the long-awaited return of Evian Christ,
the visionary British producer of some of the most
prestigious hip hop artists worldwide.
Hagop Tchaparian, the London-based producer
of Armenian origin, is set to make his Italian debut
and exclusive performance. Last year’s release
of his critically acclaimed album “Bolts”, received
widespread praise for its originality in combining
techno, field recordings, and traditional instruments.
The Stone Island Stage is set to host the “PAN 15”
lineup in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Pan
label on Saturday 4th November. As one of the most
innovative and emblematic entities in contemporary
sound production and artistic practices based on
sound, PAN is a distinguished presence on the
European scene with its interdisciplinary approach,
which explores changing worlds and visions.
The line-up features the Chinese artist of Malaysian
origin, Tzusing who recently released the excellent
“绿帽 Green Hat”, the Canadian DJ Bambii, the
mysterious project Honour, and the reggaetón
trio, Sangre Nueva (the supergroup comprising
DJ Python, Kelman Duran & DJ Florentino).
The founder of the PAN label, musician and designer
Bill Kouligas, will also be taking to the stage.
The grand opening of the festival will take place in the
evocative post-industrial setting of the OGR, which
will include an exclusive second show by Caroline
Polachek. On the eve and in addition to her eagerly
awaited live performance, in a national preview at
the Lingotto, the New York- based artist will perform
a DJ set that will showcase her deft ability to move
between styles, genres and references. An ability,
brilliantly expressed in the recently released avantpop
masterpiece ‘Desire, I Want To Turn Into You’,
with which the songwriter is shaping the horizon of
international pop and solidifying her status as a diva.
She will be joined by two acts from Brooklyn who
will be debuting in Italy and performing national
exclusives: the quartet Model/Actriz and guitarist and
composer Rachika Nayar. Fresh from releasing their
debut album ‘Dogsbody’ this Spring on independent
label True Panther, Model/Actriz combine dancepunk,
noise and industrial in an eccentric formula that
is both brilliantly engaging and disturbing.
They are counterbalanced by the restless but
dreamy atmospheres of Rachika Nayar, which
synthesize a wide range of genres, reflecting on a
queer life moving between identities, discourses and
spaces in continuous evolution.
Californian heavyweight, Flying Lotus returns to
Europe for the first time in five years. His audiovisual
show, presented at the 2012 edition remains one of
the festival’s unforgettable moments. The premise of
the new show is likely influenced by the protagonist’s
excursions in body horror, as seen in his debut feature
film “Kuso” and the short film “Ozzy’s Dungeon”,
which is included in the anthology film “V/H/S/99”.
King Krule, the versatile London singer-songwriter
who delivers real-life stories over a blend of postpunk
and jazz, will perform new material from ‘Space
Heavy’, the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Man Alive!’, released
in June via XL Recordings.
The enigmatic globetrotter Yves Tumor makes a
return to the scene with a new record “Praise a
Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume
(Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds)” described by
Pitchfork as “a glistening, richly detailed world that
feels like a culmination of their ever-escalating
talent and ambition”.
Overmono arrives from across the Channel riding the
wave of the next big thing: the Welsh duo, made up
of brothers, Tom and Ed Russell, will present music
from their debut album “Good Lies” out now following
the success of big singles like “So U Kno”. They’re
joined by Detroit legend Moodymann, playing for
the first time at C2C Festival, universally recognized
as an early champion of techno and house music,
whose sound blends classic soul and jazz samples
with his inimitable style.
Other standout talents on the line up include
Marina Herlop, the Catalan composer, singer
and pianist, who will perform live from her 2022
acclaimed album “Pripyat” alongside two choristers
and a percussionist.
Equally fascinating is Lucrecia Dalt’s album “¡Ay!”,
the product of a surprising rediscovery of her
family ancestors, merging Colombian folklore with
contemporary languages told through a futuristic
science fiction narrative of an alien creature’s
terrestrial journey.
Also hailing from Colombia is Nick León, recognised
as part of the Miami mestizo school. Highly regarded
by Rosalía who chose him as producer for a track on
“Motomami”. He was also the mastermind behind the
award-winning track “Xtasis,” which was named best
song of 2022 by numerous music outlets.
The C2C Festival lineup also features the return
of Manchester-based duo Space Afrika, who are
preparing for the follow-up to their nocturnal
ambient masterpiece, “Honest Labour.”
The festival also includes a showcase dedicated
to the Palestinian label BLTNM, which broadcasts
“Arab futurism” from its base in Ramallah through
the work of producer Al Nather, DJ Mouri, and
rappers Shabjdeed and Daboor.

PROGRAM TO BE ANNOUNCED
To mark the 20th anniversary of the festival, a new

representing the future state of the body, the urgency
to put it centre stage, in celebration of freedom, the
need for come together, to dance, to listen, to enlighten
and be enlightened.
THE WORLD
Twenty-first Arcanum of the Tarot [...] twenty-one as
a summary. This card corresponds to the complex
of the manifested, or to the spatial world, reflection
of a permanent creative activity. In the allegorical
image of this Arcanum this idea corresponds to the
figure of a girl running with a wand in each hand
inside a garland, surrounded in turn by the cosmic
quaternary or tetramorph. The wands are symbols
of polarization, which drives circulatory motion
throughout the cosmos.
