Evgeny Antufiev e Federico Lanaro presentano al MAG di Riva del Garda il progetto cecità bianca. I due artisti, invitati a maggio dalla curatrice in residenza a Canale di Tenno, per una settimana si sono limitati ad ascoltare, osservare, guardando in silenzio tracce dei disegni che ipovedenti e ciechi mostravano loro.

Entrambe. Davanti a me, come mandate in avanscoperta: due antenne o due esploratori per orientarmi nell’erranza, nel brancolamento, nella speculazione che si avventura da un disegno all’altro, giusto per vedere. Non sono sicuro di riuscire a dimostrare. [...] Le racconterò piuttosto una storia.”

Evgeny Antufiev e Federico Lanaro presentano al MAG di Riva del Garda il progetto cecità bianca. I due artisti, invitati a maggio dalla curatrice in residenza a Canale di Tenno, per una settimana si sono limitati ad ascoltare, osservare, guardando in silenzio tracce dei disegni che ipovedenti e ciechi mostravano loro. Pensieri relativi alla visione mancata, compromessa o visioni nate da pensieri invalidati, falliti per l’impossibilità stessa dell’immaginazione. Si è da subito dedotta la fragilità di questo terreno al quale si è dunque pensato di sostituire l’acqua, invitando così gli artisti a navigare con Homerus, un’associazione che insegna a ciechi e ipovedenti l’arte della vela. A distanza di quattro mesi da allora i due artisti sono chiamati a contribuire a questa riflessione con dei lavori, che in maniera diretta o meno, evocano i racconti narrati attorno al fuoco, rendendo il pubblico partecipe degli scambi avvenuti nel borgo medievale. Federico Lanaro indaga i meccanismi della visione attraverso gli strumenti e le forme che per eccellenza inglobano la volontà di esplorazione dell’uomo. L’ipotesi della visione viene scartata e poi immediatamente riconsiderata anche nelle opere di Antufiev, che esplorano diverse nature umane attraverso la natura stessa e le sue più indocili manifestazioni.

No longer beneath each step, therefore, as I set out, but always out ahead of me, as if sent out on Reconnaissance: two antennae or two explorers to orient my wanderings, in a speculation that ventures forth, simply in order to see. Evgeny Antufiev and Federico Lanaro present at MAG in Riva del Garda the project cecità bianca. The two artists were invited in May in residence at Canale di Tenno, limited for a week to listening, observing, watching, in silence, the un-drawn drawings that visually impaired and blind people showed them. Thoughts related to the lack of vision, missing and impaired or visions born from invalidated thoughts, failed due to the inability of the imagination itself. Immediately considering the fragility of this terrain, this land conceded, and replaced in water, inviting artists to navigate with Homerus, an organization that teaches blind and visually impaired people the art of sailing. Four months since then, the two artists now contribute to this discussion with the artworks, that directly or not, evoke the stories exchanged around the fire, tales born in the medieval village. Federico Lanaro investigates the mechanisms of vision through the tools and forms that have encompassed and deeply marked the exploration of mankind. Into the works of Antufiev the hypothesis of sight is discarded and then immediately reconsidered, facing the face of nature through its unruly demonstrations.
