Focusing on a single aspect of Eddie Peake’s artistic practice, People presents over twenty paintings for the artist’s fourth solo exhibition at the gallery in Rome. Working across diverse scales and materials, from vast spray painted canvases to intimate oil-on-board “self-portraits”, Peake experiments with the potential of the traditional medium to explore the drama of human relationships, from the personal to the political.

Eddie Peake (b. 1981) lives and works in London. Recent solo exhibitions include: The Forever Loop, Barbican Centre, London, 2015; Head, Jeffrey Deitch, New York, 2016; Concrete Pitch, White Cube, London, 2018. Performances include: a commission for the opening of The Tanks, Tate Modern, London, 2012; Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2015; and a series for the Volcano Extravaganza festival, Naples and Stromboli, 2017. Peake presented his first solo exhibition at Galleria Lorcan O’Neill in 2010, followed by shows in 2012 and 2015.
