Francesco Cavaliere e Leonardo Pivi – Reading Mosaics

Presentazione.

Comunicato stampa

Since 2018, Francesco Cavaliere and Leonardo Pivi have been collaborating on the creation of fantasy stories and contemporary fairy tales, which take the form of mosaic installations, sculptures, and objects
animated by performances, where words and sounds invite us to explore our and their deep imagination.

“During this presentation, we will explore and read some travel mosaics, 20x20 cm reading mosaics that, like the pages of a book, can be flipped through and read aloud to tell the hilarious story of Sijuaq the Seer Curlew. This story constitutes the second part of the Solimandante cycle, a magical and chivalric audio tale pressed on vinyl by the attentive record label Poole Music, founded by Henry Smith & Asher Woodworth in Portland, Maine, in 2020.”

The record, available during the event, will be an opportunity to discuss with the artists the significant value that mosaics hold in their work. The tile will be considered as an alphabetical equivalent of a textual weaving in progress, highlighting the importance of transforming artistic material over time and space. Additionally, copies of their book "Anubis vs Baboon: archaeological fantasies of a Roman mosaic in the 21st century," published by Post Media Books, will be available, providing further insights into the creative and conceptual visions of the artists regarding mosaics and their representation in the contemporary world.
