Sabato 30 novembre a Lugano inaugura Choisi - one at a time, un nuovo spazio non profit che ospita mostre ed eventi d'arte contemporanea con particolare attenzione per la carta e le sue declinazioni.

Lo spazio espositivo è inserito nella libreria di Artphilein Editions unicamente dedicata al libro d'artista contemporaneo, all'editoria indipendente, al self-publishing, alle edizioni limitate, ai multipli e ai libri di fotografia.
Un'accurata selezione di riviste d'arte internazionali sarà in consultazione nell'angolo di lettura all'interno dello spazio, dove i visitatori potranno inoltre partecipare al bookcrossing, Libri in Movimento, con lo scambio di un proprio libro.

Tutte le mostre di Choisi - one at a time saranno caratterizzate dalla presentazione di una sola opera alla volta, one at a time, corredata da approfondimenti e da una ricercata documentazione. La scelta nasce dalla volontà di porre l’attenzione sul processo creativo che guida gli artisti nella creazione dell'opera, con l'intento di coinvolgere e avvicinare il pubblico all'arte contemporanea e al libro d'artista.

Futura, a cura di Larissa Galler, espone il libro d'artista Die Kunst der Typographie di Emilio Sdun e Antonio Alcaraz, pubblicato nel 2010, reinterpretazione dell'omonimo saggio di Paul Renner scritto nel 1939 e pubblicato l'anno seguente; un omaggio a un maestro della grafica del Novecento, creatore, tra l'altro, del carattere tipografico Futura, oggi ancora attuale e largamente in uso. Il libro nasce dal workshop tenuto dai due artisti presso l’Hessisches Museum di Darmstadt, museo dedicato alla stampa d’autore e all'arte tipografica.
La mostra è accompagnata dal commento musicale nato dalla collaborazione con l’Associazione Jazzy Jams di Lugano e l'ensemble Jazz in Bess che ha appositamente realizzato un'improvvisazione jazz ispirata al lavoro di Alcaraz e Sdun, registrata grazie a Stepasound.

In occasione della mostra Artphilein Editions SA pubblica il catalogo Futura, con testi di Susanne Lang, Angela Madesani e Sergio Polano.

Saturday 30 November Choisi - one at a time opens a new non profit space in Lugano that hosts contemporary art exhibitions and events, placing special attention on works created with and on paper, in all its forms.

The exhibition space is located inside the Artphilein Editions bookstore, a shop dedicated to contemporary artist's books, independent publishers, self-publishing, limited editions, multiples and photographic books.
A carefully selected assortment of international art magazines will be available in the reading corner, where visitors may also participate in book-crossing, in our Libri in Movimento section, by exchanging one of their own books.

All of the exhibitions held at Choisi – one at a time will be characterised by presentations of one artwork at a time, and will be accompanied by research, analysis and documentation. The idea to present single works is motivated by our desire to focus on the artistic process that guides artists in the creation of their works, and to involve and incline the public toward contemporary art and artist's books.

For its first exhibition Choisi - one at a time will host the Artphilein Foundation, presenting one of the works from its collection and thus beginning a collaboration that will continue over time.
Futura, curated by Larissa Galler, will exhibit the artist's book Die Kunst der Typographie by Emilio Sdun and Antonio Alcaraz, published in 2010, a reinterpretation of the eponymous volume by Paul Renner that was written in 1939 and published the following year; it is an homage to a master of the graphic design of the twentieth-century, to the designer the Futura font, in addition to others, which is still up-to-date and widely in use today. The book originated from a workshop held by the two artists at the Hessisches Museum in Darmstadt, Germany, an institution dedicated to the art printing and the typographic arts.
The exhibition will be accompanied by music that is a result of the collaboration between the Jazzy Jams Association in Lugano and the ensemble Jazz in Bess, which created a jazz improvisation inspired by Alcaraz and Sdun's work, recorded at Stepasound studios.

In occasion of the exhibition Artphilein Editions SA will publish the catalogue Futura, which includes texts by Susanne Lang, Angela Madesani and Sergio Polano.
