The exhibition is based on the traditional lifestyle of the famous Hakka House immigrants in Longnan, China. Through the artists’ exploration of immigration architecture, community involvement, spatial reorganization and cultural heritage in Chinese historical relics, the exhibition is creatively played. Responding to the theme of this year’s architectural biennale, looking for the common life of the ethnic group to transform into the possibility of mutual communication between people in contemporary culture, let the traditional customs and modern living.

The project presents an historical architectural typology through photographs, sculptures, installations, and other forms of art from the history to the current social consciousness, changes in ideas and the artist’s thinking on these issues. The exhibition is divided into two parts that marks the two research areas addressed by the curators (an architectural historian and an art historian) who combined their skills to analyse not only the theme of the recovery of an important historical type of self-sufficient co-housing but also to create in the contemporary Chinese art scene a vision of a social model based on the sense of community generated by the same housing units without any distinction of rank.
