La Galleria Valentina Bonomo è lieta di annunciare l’inaugurazione della personale di Irene Kung, mercoledì 15 marzo 2017 dalle ore 18.00 alle ore 21.00 in via del portico d’Ottavia 13 a Roma.

Dopo le importanti partecipazioni dell’artista svizzera ad eventi come l’EXPO 2015 e mostre come al Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza nel 2016 ed i suoi numerosi viaggi in Oriente, lrene Kung torna a Roma per la sua terza esposizione al portico d’Ottavia.
Dall’India e la Russia fino alle piazze di Roma, ma anche alberi ed onde del mare, sono questi i soggetti delle fotografie che la Kung sceglie per questa personale. Una delicata contrapposizione fra natura ed architettura e una nuova ricerca sulla luce, decisamente più chiara rispetto ai precedenti lavori, che, con la sua misteriosa energia, crea un clima di serenità e di quiete.
L’artista propone immagini sospese nel tempo e nello spazio, visioni evanescenti sottratte al loro contesto che, superando la realtà, entrano a far parte di una dimensione onirica in cui lo spettatore si abbandona con gli occhi e con la mente. Esploratrice di forme e di quotidianità, Irene Kung riesce a mostrare ciò che sfugge all’occhio dell’uomo distratto e incapace di cogliere la bellezza che ancora lo circonda. Infatti, attraverso una sapiente tecnica d’intervento digitale, enfatizza i dettagli più belli e significativi delle immagini riducendole all’essenziale proprio per condividere con lo spettatore l’emozione che suscita.
Nelle sue opere la fotografia perde il suo carattere di pura riproduzione della realtà e si afferma come una diversa forma di espressione che, con l’uso della tecnologia, sovrappone il gesto pittorico all’immagine riprodotta meccanicamente.

Biografia:
Irene Kung nasce in Svizzera e si specializza in pittura. In anni più recenti espande il suo repertorio artistico verso la fotografia. Questo la porta ad ottenere diversi riconoscimenti a livello internazionale grazie a numerose mostre a New York, Londra, Milano e in altre importanti città (recentemente in Beijing e a Mosca). Ha esposto presso il Bozar Museum a Bruxelles in Belgio, al Palazzo della Ragione di Milano e nella Certosa San Giacomo a Capri in Italia. Le sue opere sono apparse in numerose riviste internazionali come The New York Times Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, Sette del Corriere della Sera, China Daily e sono state giudicate dalla giuria al ParisPhoto 2010. E’ stata invitata a partecipare all’EXPO 2015 con una personale di 26 fotografie di alberi da frutto. Recentemente ha pubblicato i libri Trees e The Invisible City, editi in inglese, italiano, francese e cinese.

Following the Swiss artist’s contribution to EXPO 2015, her major group show at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in 2016 and several journeys to the East, Irene Kung is now back in Rome for her third exhibition at the Portico d’Ottavia.
From India and Russia to Rome’s squares but also trees and waves: these are the themes chosen by Irene Kung for her show.
A delicate contrast between nature and architecture emerges and a new research on light, softer than in her past works, generates a sense of stillness and peace through its mysterious energy.
The images are frozen in time and space, faint visions removed from their context that go beyond reality and enter a dreamlike dimension where the viewer can let his eyes and soul wander freely.
By exploring daily life and shapes, Irene Kung reveals the beauty around us that our inattentive eyes miss.
She highlights the most beautiful and meaningful details with a thorough digital intervention that removes all but the essential and allows her to share her emotions with the viewer.
In her work photography is not a mere reproduction of reality and becomes instead a new kind of expression where the painterly gesture overlaps the mechanical image.

Biography:
Irene Kung was born in Switzerland and trained as a painter. In recent years she expanded her repertoire to include photography and has achieved international recognition with many exhibitions in New York, London, Milan and more recently in Beijing and Moscow. She has exhibited at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, at the Bozar Museum in Brussels, at the Palazzo della Ragione in Milan and in the spectacular surroundings of the Certosa San Giacomo in Capri, Italy. Her work has appeared in numerous international magazines such as The New York Times Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, Sette del Corriere della Sera, China Daily and was selected by the international jury at ParisPhoto 2010. She was invited to contribute to EXPO 2015 with a solo show featuring 26 photographs of fruit trees.
The recently published book Trees follows The Invisible City, on architecture photographs, that was published in 2012 in English, Italian, French and Chinese.
