Venerdì 25 ottobre, alle ore 18.00, Boccanera Gallery apre la stagione espositiva a Trento con la seconda personale di Linda Carrara (1984, Bergamo) negli spazi espositivi in Via Alto Adige 176.

Boccanera Gallery presenta così la più recente ricerca pittorica della giovane artista, un lavoro mirato al superamento delle funzionalità rappresentative della pittura, dove essa diventa il soggetto nascosto dei suoi lavori, poiché mezzo che garantisce proprietà divergenti rispetto alla realtà. Le immagini di Linda sono caratterizzate da una sintassi instabile e libera, in cui trovano posto silenziosi smarrimenti poetici e reali contraddizioni prospettiche.

“Chôra” è il titolo della mostra curata da Giuseppe Frangi, un termine tratto dal Timeo di Platone che indica quello spazio, per certi versi indicibile, in cui la forma dispiega la propria azione. Con un gioco di parole: è lo spazio della forma in “formazione”. Ed è proprio nel concetto di formazione, della materia, di un ipotetico paesaggio o della pittura stessa, che la Carrara si destreggia e abita, mostrandoci una serie di opere che tendono all’idea di luogo e paesaggio nel quale lo spettatore sarà invitato a camminare.

Un titolo che vuole definire la ricerca dell’artista, una ricerca scaturita da un’attrazione, anzi, da una sorta di magnetismo: quello che porta la tela a farsi involucro della forma che poi la abiterà. Liberare la pittura dall’intenzionalità significa spingerla, quasi stressarla, perché sempre più si pieghi a farsi pelle del reale, a farsi lei stessa cosa e non solo rappresentazione della cosa. “Chôra” descrive la ragione profonda di questo schiacciarsi sul soggetto, di questo annullamento di ogni distanza.

Le opere sono in mostra negli spazi di Boccanera in via Alto Adige 176 a Trento fino al 4 gennaio 2020.

Linda Carrara è nata a Bergamo nel 1984. Vive e lavora fra Gent – Bruxelles e Milano.

Nel marzo 2006 si diploma al “Dipartimento sperimentale di arte contemporanea” presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano. Dal 2015 frequenta il Master in MultiMedia presso l’Accademia belga KASK a Gent. Nel 2013 è finalista al “Premio Cairo”, nel 2014 vince il “Premio Terna - Pittura” con l’opera intitolata “Outer Space” nella quale indaga la luce come materia pittorica e la metafisica come spazio.

Sono numerose le mostre pubbliche che la vedono partecipe sul territorio italiano e internazionale. Nel 2012 partecipa alla collettiva “Crises and Rises” a cura di Rossella Farinotti, presso il Palazzo delle Stelline a Milano e nel 2014 alla Fondazione Rivoli2 di Milano presenta la personale intitolata “Be. Per agire occorre essere avvolti nelle illusioni”.

Nel 2015 è stata invitata a Bruxelles alla mostra collettiva “Ma Patience a des Limites – still life” presso gli spazi di Dubois Friedland e alla collettiva sul disegno negli spazi di Le Kabinet. Sempre nel 2015 il suo video “I’m a still life” è stato proiettato a Mosca presso il Centro d’Arte Contemporanea Fabrika.

Nel 2016 presenta la prima personale da Boccanera Gallery Trento “Il pretesto di Lotto” a cura di Daniele Capra, nel 2017 la personale “Looking for the right place at the right moment” con scritti di Claudio Salvi, negli spazi Blanco a Gent, in Belgio. Nel 2018 inaugura la sua mostra “A/R Linda Carrara [nata a Bergamo nel 1984, vive e lavora tra Bruxelles e Milano]” all’Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Bruxelles, lo stesso anno partecipa alla collettiva “Graffiare il presente” a cura di Daniele Capra e Giuseppe Frangi, a Casa Testori, Milano. Nel 2019 inaugura la personale “Madonna delle Rocce” presso la Galleria Iragui di Mosca.

Vincitrice di diverse residenze d`artista, nel 2015 partecipa alla residenza “MOMENTUM Worldwide” a Berlino, nel 2016 è ospite presso la residenza LKV – Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder a Trondheim in Norvegia, nel 2017 presso la residenza del Museo NCCA di San Pietroburgo e nel 2018 alla residenza Musumeci Contemporary a Bruxelles.

On Friday, October 25th, at 6 pm, Boccanera Gallery opens the exhibition season in Trento with the second solo show of Linda Carrara (1984, Bergamo) in Via Alto Adige 176.

Boccanera Gallery presents the young artist's most recent pictorial research, a work aimed at overcoming the representative functions of painting, where it becomes the hidden subject of her works, as a mean that guarantees properties that differ from reality. Linda's images are characterized by an unstable and free syntax, in which silent poetic disorientate and real perspective contradictions find their place.

"Chôra" is the title of the exhibition curated by Giuseppe Frangi, a term taken from Plato's Timeo that indicates the space, in some ways unspeakable, in which the form unfolds its action. With a play on word: it is the space of the form in "formation". And it is precisely in the concept of formation, of matter, of a hypothetical landscape or of painting itself that Carrara alters and inhabits, showing us a series of works that bend to the idea of a place and a landscape in which the viewer will be invited to walk.

A title that wants to define the artist's research, a research that comes from an attraction, or rather, from a sort of magnetism: the one that leads the canvas to become the shell of the form that will then inhabit it. Freeing painting from intentionality means pushing it, almost stressing it, so that it increasingly bends to become the skin of reality, to become itself a thing and not just a representation of a thing. "Chôra" describes the profound reason for this crushing on the subject, this cancellation of all distance.

The works are on display in the spaces of Boccanera in Trento, via Alto Adige 176 until January 4, 2020.

Linda Carrara was born in Bergamo in 1984. She lives and works between Ghent – Brussels, and Milan.

In March 2006, she graduated from the "Experimental Department of Contemporary Art" at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. In 2015, she has attended the Master in Multimedia at the Belgian Academy KASK in Ghent. In 2013 she was a finalist at the "Cairo Prize", in 2014 she won the "Terna Prize - Painting" with the work entitled "Outer Space" in which she investigates light as a pictorial matter and metaphysics as space.

She participated in many Italian and international public exhibitions. In 2012, she took part in the collective exhibition "Crises and Rises" curated by Rossella Farinotti, at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan and in 2014, at the Fondazione Rivoli2 in Milan, she presented her solo exhibition entitled “Be. Per agire occorre essere avvolti nelle illusioni” (Be. To act you need to be wrapped in illusions).

In 2015, she was invited to Brussels to the collective exhibition "Ma Patience a des Limites - still life" at the spaces of Dubois Friedland, and to the collective exhibition on drawing in the spaces of Le Kabinet. Also in 2015, her video "I'm a still life" was screened in Moscow at the Fabrika Centre for Contemporary Art.

In 2016, she presented her first solo exhibition at the Boccanera Gallery Trento "Il pretesto di Lotto" curated by Daniele Capra, in 2017 her solo exhibition "Looking for the right place at the right moment" with writings by Claudio Salvi, in the spaces Blanco in Gent, Belgium. In 2018, she opened her exhibition "A/R Linda Carrara [born in Bergamo in 1984, lives and works between Brussels and Milan]" at the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, the same year she participated in the group show "Graffiare il presente" curated by Daniele Capra and Giuseppe Frangi, at Casa Testori, Milan. In 2019 she inaugurated her solo show "Madonna delle Rocce" at the Iragui Gallery in Moscow.

Winner of several artist's residencies, in 2015 she participated in the residence "MOMENTUM Worldwide" in Berlin, in 2016 she was a guest at the residence LKV - Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder in Trondheim, Norway, in 2017 at the residence of the NCCA Museum in St. Petersburg and in 2018 at the residence Musumeci Contemporary in Brussels.
