Lisa Lurati & Giordano Tatum Rush – The Room

Immaginate di avere il privilegio di poter entrare nell’appartamento lussuoso, ma anche enigmatico, misterioso di una brillante coppia quarantenne che ha da poco intrapreso la passione del collezionismo d’arte.

Immaginate di avere il privilegio di poter entrare nell'appartamento lussuoso, ma anche enigmatico, misterioso di una brillante coppia quarantenne che ha da poco intrapreso la passione del collezionismo d'arte.
Ecco, questo è quanto i giovani artisti luganesi (ma operanti in Romandia) Lisa Lurati e Giordano Tatum Rush propongono al pubblico della loro esposizione in duo, che si aprirà alla rada (Locarno) venerdì 18 settembre alle ore 18.
I due artisti – che hanno quasi vent'anni di meno – ipotizzano in questa messinscena che possa essere la loro casa in un'eventuale futura vita di coppia. E che in essa possano rivivere i frutti della loro creatività giovanile – cioè quella attuale.
Da un lato Lisa Lurati ha disseminato The Room ed il corridoio di accesso di immagini che scaturiscono dalla sua ricerca fotografica, in linea con i fermenti della giovane fotografia contemporanea e a volte ai margini della cosiddetta antifotografia, cioè della trasposizione e modificazione di scatti trovati in rete o all'interno di archivi storici.
Al contempo, un grande schermo al plasma trasmette un video che costituisce un mash up di uno degli ambiti creativi del musicista, performer e videomaker Giordano Tatum Rush, cioè dei commercials di un mondo a lui estraneo, e quasi iniziatico: quello dell'industria del lusso.
Le casse di un lussuoso stereo d'appartamento ne diffondono l'audio e nel loft in cui vive questa sofisticata coppia, oltre alle loro letture, s'intravedono anche opere di arte applicata realizzate da Lisa Lurati.
La serata inaugurale vedrà, alle 21, il concerto di Tatum Rush: un electropop suadente in cui emergono le sue radici statunitensi ed una vita cosmopolita. Naturalmente l'ingresso sarà libero, come durante tutta la mostra che durerà fino a domenica 11 ottobre, con apertura dal giovedì alla domenica, dalle 14 alle 19.
Si ringraziano caldamente per la fornitura dei mobili di modernariato Demosmobilia (Chiasso) e per le tecnologie hi-fi Soldini SA (Locarno). Inoltre si ringraziano la scuola CEPV (Vevey) ed il Garage Tognetti (Gordola).
L'esposizione conclude il ciclo In the dark I see, programma di quattro esposizioni sulla giovane scena artistica svizzera, curato da Riccardo Lisi e supportato da Pro Helvetia.

Imagine having the privilege of being able to enter an apartment, luxurious, yet also enigmatic and mysterious, of a brilliant 40-ish couple which has recently discovered a passion for art collecting.
This is the new exhibit of the young artists from Lugano (based in the French part of Switzerland) Lisa Lurati and Giordano Tatum Rush, opening at la rada (Locarno) on Friday 18 September at 6 o'clock pm.
The two artists – who in reality are 20 or so years younger – hypothesize in this exposition what could be their own home as a future couple. And in such an abode they can re-live the fruits of their creative youth, i.e. their present-day real lives.
For her part, Lisa Lurati has decorated The Room and its corridors with images which reflect her photographic studies, inspired by the fresh ferment of contemporary young photographers, and at times on the margins of antiphotography, the transposition and modification of images found online or in historical archives.
Contemporaneously, a large screen TV transmits a video which is a mash up of one of the creative pursuits of the musician, performance artist, and video-maker Giordano Tatum Rush, that is, promotional videos of a world in contrast to his lifestyle as an artist, that of the luxury industry.
The loud speakers of a high quality stereo system of the apartment emit the audio and within the loft in which the sophisticated couple lives, in addition to their books and magazines, the artistic works of Lisa Lurati are exhibited.
The opening night will also feature a live concert performance at 9:00 pm by Tatum Rush, whose seductive electro-pop-soul vibe displays his American roots and cosmopolitan allure. Entrance is free for the opening as well as for the entire duration of the exhibit until 11 October, open from Thursday thru Sunday, from 2 pm to 9 pm.
A warm appreciation is extended to our patrons, Demosmobilia (Chiasso) for furniture and Soldini SA (Locarno) for hi-fi-equipment, as well as CEPV (Vevey) and Garage Tognetti (Gordola).
The exhibition will conclude the cycle of In the Dark I See, a series of four exhibits spotlighting the young artists scene of Switzerland, curated by Riccardo Lisi and supported by Pro Helvetia.
