art ex dono, associazione culturale italiana, ha il piacere di annunciare la nascita del progetto ULTRA che inizia il suo “viaggio” con l’inaugurazione, Sabato 22 Ottobre alle ore 18.00, della personale di Marotta & Russo, intitolata “Are You Human?”, presso spazioULTRA, Piazzetta Valentinis, 5 – 33100 Udine,Italy.
La mostra resterà aperta al pubblico fino al 28.01.2011.

Ci appropriamo di un breve testo degli artisti per introdurvi alla loro personale, dove saranno presentati tutti lavori inediti.

“Lavoriamo assieme, ovvero in due. Il nostro metodo è molto semplice, sempre quello: ci poniamo ogni giorno moltissime domande l’un l’altro, da anni. Ma ciascuna di esse, in definitiva, ha da sempre in radice quella fondamentale: sei umano? La conferma finora ci è arrivata, reciproca e mai scontata. E questo ci piace.
Noi tutti siamo ogni giorno responsabilmente liberi di porre o di non porre delle domande. Di scegliere se essere – o non essere – (più) umani. Ciascuno di fronte a sé stesso, alla società, all’economia, alla tecnologia. Al suo tempo, insomma. E questo è il problema. Che c’è di nuovo? Ogni volta, tutto… a voler essere onesti.
La mostra nasce dall’urgenza di definire una misura possibile e dall’esigenza di fare il punto della situazione. Di questa situazione. Partendo dall’unico elemento primario, che è anche – per esperienza – l’unico metro possibile: il dato umano. Privato e individuale, pubblico e collettivo. Are You Human?” (Marotta & Russo)

Stefano Marotta è nato a La Chaux de Fonds (CH) nel 1971, vive a Udine (I). È docente presso la scuola di “Nuove Tecnologie per l’Arte” dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia.
Roberto Russo è nato a Udine (I), dove vive, nel 1969. È docente presso la scuola di “Nuove Tecnologie per l’Arte” dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia.

Marotta & Russo sono un duo di artisti udinesi. La loro ricerca disegna i confini espressivi e concettuali di
un personale neoumanesimo digitale, all’insegna della sperimentazione nell'ambito dei linguaggi e delle logiche

“We work together, that is we are two. Our method is always the same: since years we ask each other a great deal of questions. But in the end every question brings in its roots the fundamental one: are you human? The acknowledgment so far has arrived, always mutual and never assumptive. And we like this.

Everyone of us is day by day responsible and free to ask or not to ask some questions.
To choose to be - or not to be - (any more) human. Everyone stands in front of himself, of society, of economy, of technology. Everyone in front of his time, in short. And this is the problem. So what's new? Every time everything is new…if we want to be honest.

This exhibition springs from the haste to define a possible measure and from the need to make the point of situation. Of this situation. And this starting from the only basic element, which is also - by experience - the only possible measure: the human datum. Private and individual, public and collective. Marotta & Russo are a duo of artists and designers from Udine. Their research traces the expressive and conceptual
borders of a personal digital neohumanism, whose experimentation develops within the languages and the digital logics of
