Sotto la superficie e dietro la nebbia, muovendosi a rallentatore, lei sente una bestia camminare in punta di piedi, i suoi sospiri la tengono sveglia tutta la notte.
Lui sa chi è lei.
La riporta a casa e nella sua umile mente tenta di arrivare al suo cuore.
Bisognosa di correre, taglia la nebbia che si intrufola nella sua mente...
Cosa è successo?
Il vento freddo soffia fra i pensieri che la fanno impazzire.
Da qualche parte dentro di lei c'è un irruente flusso che imperterrito cerca di arrivare in fretta, lasciandosi qualsiasi cosa alle spalle.*

Le luci la accecano e non riesce più a vedere il secco suolo crepato ma avverte l'acqua introdursi dolcemente nella terra, rianimandola.
Lui è il suo primo, il suo ultimo, il suo meglio.
Il rumore dell'acqua scorre nelle insenature della sua mente e quando imparerà a lasciare la presa sul passato la nebbia sparirà come un miraggio.

*Lei vuole andare in macchina passando per kahhaleh.

Apri le luci e prova a vedere.

Inner Landscape è una riflessione sulla psiche. Rappresenta uno stato d'essere dove l’incomprensibile si esprime lasciando spazio alla fluidità del presente che continua a scorrere senza freni rivelando risposte prima celate.

Biografia
Marya Kazoun (Libano / Canada, 1976)
Marya Kazoun è cresciuta a Beirut. Nel 1984 la sua famiglia è scappata dalla guerra rifugiandosi in Svizzera e poi a Montreal dove ha preso la cittadinanza canadese. Ha conseguito una laurea in Belle Arti specializzandosi in architettura d'interni al LAU. Nel 2001 si trasferisce a New York e porta a termine una MFA in Belle Arti presso la School of Visual Arts. Successivamente si trasferisce a Venezia dove vive e lavora attualmente.
Le sue opere sono interdisciplinari, di cui principalmente installazioni e performance spesso in combinazione tra loro. Rilievi 3D, dipinti, disegni e foto sono il supporto delle sue installazioni e performance.
Ogni opera ha una propria narrazione tratta dal suo viaggio personale, dai suoi ricordi d'infanzia e dal suo background culturale. Esplora e gioca con i concetti del tempo e dello spazio, spesso oltrepassando i loro confini. Realizza questa idea attraverso l'uso d'immagini e riferimenti collettivi, inconsci ed elaborati poeticamente.
I materiali che predilige sono umili ed economici. L’artista li trasforma donando loro nobiltà, nuova vita e nuovo significato.
Nel 2005 ha partecipato alla 51a Biennale di Venezia con l’installazione 'Personal Living Space'. Tra le sue collaborazioni figurano il Museo di Belle Arti di Pushkin nel 2006, il Museo d'Arte Moderna di Klagenfurt nel 2006, la Biennale Sharjah 8 nel 2007, il World Economic Forum a Davos nel 2008, la Biennale di Poznan nel 2008, la 53a Biennale di Venezia nel 2009 e ha ottenuto una commissione importante rappresentando la città di Venezia durante la 54a Biennale nel 2013.

Under the surface and behind the fog, moving in slow motion, she hears a beast tiptoeing, his sighs keeps her up all night.
He knows her.
He carries her home in his humble mind and tries reaching high to get to her heart,
Need to run, obliterating the fog sweeping in her brain…
So what happened?

Cold wind blowing in her brain and driving her insane. Somewhere inside of her, there is this river and rushing to get somewhere in a hurry, disregarding everything else to get there.

Strong lights blinding and debilitating, she could no longer see the dry cracked ground but could hear water gently seeping into Earth and stirring it back to life.
He is her first he is her last he is her prime.
The sound of Water is running into the crevices of her brain, and when she learns to let go of what the past says the fog will disappear like a mirage.

*She wants to go by car through Kahhaleh.

Inner Landscape is a reflection of the psyche. A representation of a state of being in which the 'unclear' gets to express itself.
It speaks up for the fluidity and freedom of the present moment.
The present never stops and continues to go by delivering indirect answers.

Biography
Marya Kazoun (Lebanon/ Canada, 1976)
Marya Kazoun grew up in Beirut. In 1984 her family fled the war by moving to Switzerland and later to Montreal where she became Canadian. She completed degrees in Interior Architecture and Fine Arts at LAU. In 2001 she moved to NY and completed an MFA in fine arts at the SVA. She later moved to Venice Italy where she now lives and works.
Her works are interdisciplinary. Her pieces are mainly installations and performances, and often a combination of both. 3D reliefs, paintings, drawings, and photos are support studies for her installations/ performances.
Every work has its own narrative and is a story deriving from her personal journey, from her childhood memories and her cultural background. She explores and plays with the concepts of time and space by often blurring their boundaries. She achieves this idea through poetically elaborated unconscious collective imagery and references.
Her materials are often humble and cheap. She works on transforming them giving them nobility, new life, and new meaning.
She took part in the 51st Venice Biennial in 2005 with a solo show ‘Personal Living Space’. Some of her participations include the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts 2006, the Museum of Modern Art of Klagenfurt 2006, the Sharjah Biennial 8 in 2007, the World Economic Forum in Davos 2008, Pozna Biennial in Poland 2008, the 53rd Venice Biennale 2009. She represented the city of Venice at the 54rth Venice Biennale 2013 with a major commission.
