È questa la prima mostra che Progettoarte elm dedica all’artista tedesco Michael Rögler (Mainz 1940). La rassegna presenta circa venti opere che coprono tutto il suo percorso con una particolare focalizzazione tra gli anni Settanta e Novanta del ‘900. Il suo è un cammino complesso, segnato dallo studio e dalla conoscenza della storia dell’arte. La sua partenza dal colore tra la fine dei Cinquanta e l’inizio dei Sessanta, si attenua nel momento in cui si avvicina alle esperienze del gruppo Zero, alla metà dei Sessanta. Ma presto l’interesse nei confronti del colore e delle sue espressioni torna portante nella sua ricerca, influenzata dallo studio dell’opera di Claude Monet. Nel corso degli anni, l’artista dà vita a uno spazio pittorico sempre più tangibile e riconoscibile, in cui lo studio del rapporto fra i colori primari e complementari si fa precipuo. Il suo sguardo si sposta sulla pittura dei maestri americani dell’Espressionismo astratto, da Mark Rothko a Barnett Newman. Nel 1996 la sua opera è oggetto di un’importante mostra personale, accompagnata dal testo critico di Peter Weiermair, a Francoforte sul Meno, dove l’artista vive dal 1955. Nel 2000 l’artista è invitato a partecipare all’importante ricognizione sul colore Die Farbe hat mich, che ha luogo all’Ernst Oasthaus Museum di Hagen, mostra che sarà poi esportata a New York (Seeing Red) e a Budapest (Colour a life its own). Sue opere sono state esposte all’interno di importanti mostre collettive, in Germania, e sono nella collezione di alcuni importanti musei quali la Neue Galerie di Kassel, la Kunsthalle di Mannheim, il Clemens Sels Museum di Neuss, nei pressi di Düsseldorf. In occasione della mostra Progettoarte elm realizza un catalogo bilingue (italiano inglese), in cui la curatrice analizza il percorso dell’artista tedesco. Il catalogo accompagnerà anche la mostra di Michael Rögler presso la galleria Artesilva di Seregno, che avrà luogo dall’8 al 24 giugno 2017.

Works from the Sixties to the present

This is the first exhibition Progettoarte elm dedicates to the German artist Michael Rögler (Mainz 1940). The exhibition includes about twenty works covering his whole career, especially focusing on the Seventies and the Nineties. His path has been quite complex, featuring the study and deep knowledge of art history. His departure from the colour, in between the late Fifties and the early Sixties, attenuates when he approaches the experiences of Zero Group, in the mid Sixties. But soon the interest in colour and its expressions becomes essential in his research, influenced by the study of Claude Monet’s work. Over the years, the artist has given birth to an increasingly tangible and recognisable painting space, in which the study of the relationship between primary and secondary colours becomes fundamental. Then, his look starts focusing on the painting of abstract Expressionism American masters offrom Mark Rothko to Barnett Newman. In 1996 his work is the center of a key personal show, accompanied by Peter Weiermair’s critical text, in Frankfuert am Mein, where the artist has been living since 1955. In 2000 the artist is invited to take part to the important survey on Die Farbe Hat mich colour survey, taking place at Ernst Oasthaus Museum in Hagen, an exhibition that will be exported to New York (seeing Red) and Budapest (Color a life his own). His works were exhibited within important collective shows in Germany and belong to the collection of some important museums such as Neue Galerie Kassel, Kunsthalle Mannheim, Clemes Sels Museums Neuss not far from Duesseldorf.

On this show, progettoarte elm develops a bilingual catalogue (Italian English), in which the curator focuses on the German artist’s path. The catalogue will also accompany Michael Rögler ’s exhibition at Artesilva Gallery in Seregno, scheduled to be held on June 8-24 2017.
