Alla metà degli anni ’60 Michael Morris ha incominciato a produrre collage basati su vari numeri della rivista LIFE.
Nel 1969 ha iniziato la sua collaborazione con Vincent Trasov fondando assieme a lui IMAGE BANK a Vancouver. Il progetto comune era di contrastare il controllo esercitato dagli interessi commerciali sulla cultura visiva contemporanea. Il progetto si è avvalso delle strategie messe in atto dalle avanguardie del secolo scorso, da Dada a Fluxus.
Ma Ray Johnson resta colui che ha maggiormente influenzato la loro attività. Al pari di Johnson, Morris e Trasov hanno scelto il servizio postale come luogo di scambio al di fuori dei confini dell'arte e dell'egemonia dei media. Il loro rifiuto implicito di ogni concetto di proprietà intellettuale permette loro di appropriarsi delle idee altrui e li induce a una proliferazione di giochi di ruolo, come l'uso di pseudonimi.
Da anni Morris vive a Berlino e Trasov a Vancouver, ma il loro sodalizio continua.
Attualmente sono residenti a Venezia, ospiti della Emily Harvey Foundation.

In the middle of the 1960s, Michael Morris began making collages that were based on copies of LIFE magazine, and when he and Vincent Trasov founded IMAGE BANK in 1969 in Vancouver, they were hoping to contrast the control exercised by commercial interests on the visual culture of the time. Their project has made use of various strategies developed by the avantgardes of the early twentieth century, especially DADA, as well as by Fluxus. Ray Johnson, however, remains their primary influence. Like Johnson, Morris and Trasov have considered the mails to be a space of exchange outside of art and the hegemony of the media. Their tacit disregard for any and all notions of intellectual property allows their appropriation of the ideas of others, and has also encouraged their numerous role games, as exemplified by their use of pseudonyms. Trasov is currently based in Vancouver, whereas Morris now lives and works primarily in Berlin, but their collaboration continues and they are currently guests in Venice of the Emily Harvey Foundation.
