dal 7 giugno al 27 novembre 2011 in diversi luoghi del Marocco e su R22 radio
MOROCCO “Working for Change” è un progetto che si focalizza sulla ricerca, l’azione e la creazione di una documentazione condivisa che considerano la produzione artistica e il suo ruolo nel cambiamento della società. Il progetto ha inizio a Venezia, come luogo d’incontro, offerta e connessione tra la produzione artistica e i contesti sociali, e proseguirà in altri spazi del Marocco. “Significativo è l’esempio del Marocco - dice Abdellah Karroum - , sia per il livello artistico che politico, implicito in ciascuna delle opere proposte. Questi lavori, che comprendono numerose collaborazioni in Marocco con le femministe e gli attivisti umanitari, danno vita all’approccio “pratico-attivo” di questo progetto curatoriale che unisce la pratica dell'arte come ricerca al suo aspetto di produzione attiva
Gli artisti: Doa Aly, Ismail Bahri, Gabriella Ciancimino, Tomas Colaço , Ninar Esber, Alevtina Kakhidze, Karim Rafi, Younès Rahmoun e Batoul S'himi (elenco provvisorio).
A Venezia, lo Spazio Punch diventa anche “project room”, fungendo da piattaforma sia per la produzione che per la visibilità stessa del progetto. Lo spazio espositivo qui viene concepito come luogo di incontro fra artisti e pubblico, con tavoli che diventano aree di lavoro per gli artisti e i partecipanti per esporre e discutere i loro contributi. Il tavolo diventa quindi “spazio di progetto” per lo sviluppo di conversazioni, collaborazioni e presentazione di nuovi progetti nel corso della Biennale.

Curatore: Abdellah Karroum, nato nel 1970 in Marocco, è ricercatore e curatore indipendente. Nel 2002 ha fondato L'appartement 22 a Rabat e ha avviato numerosi progetti tra cui le Edizioni Hors'champs e “Le Bout du Monde spedizioni”. Ha lavorato come curatore per la Biennale di Dakar nel 2006, per Gwangju nel 2008, e nel 2009 per la Biennale di Marrakech. Ha avviato la "Delegazione Curatoriale"e il laboratorio di ricerca "Arte, Tecnologia ed Ecologia" in collaborazione con L'appartement 22 e l’ ESAV-Marrakech.

MOROCCO “Working for Change” is a research and action-based project that focuses on producing and sharing ideas in order to consider artistic production and its role in changing societies. Beginning in Venice and expanding to spaces in Morocco, this project explores connections between artistic production and social contexts. As curator Abdellah Karroum explains, “The example of Morocco is significant at both the artistic and political level, which are implicated in each of the proposed artworks. These works, which including several collaborations in Morocco with feminists as well as with activists, form this curatorial project’s “practive” approach, joining the practice of art as research to its appearance as active production (practice + active).”

In Venice, the exhibition space of Spazio Punch doubles as a project room, serving as a platform for the project’s production and visibility. The spatial proposal offers tables as workspaces to artists and participants for exhibiting and discussing their contributions. The value of the table, whether in the exhibition space or in the private space, lies in its capacity as a project space for developing new projects, conversations, and collaborations over the course of the Biennale.

Curator: Abdellah Karroum (born 1970, Morocco) is a researcher and independent curator. He founded L’appartement 22 in Rabat in 2002 and has developed numerous projects including Editions Hors’champs and Le Bout Du Monde expeditions. He has served as curator for the Biennales of Dakar 2006, Gwangju 2008, and Marrakech 2009. He initiated The “Curatorial Delegation” and the research laboratory “Art, Technology and Ecology” in collaboration with L’appartement 22 and ESAV-Marrakech.
