Comunicato stampa

Nucleo presents a new series of artworks: Grafts. At different stages of making, several pieces of Nucleo’s production are given to other Turin based artists as materials to create a new work. The grafting is an hybridization process that is made possible by the affinity of tissues and not by sexual reproduction. The two centres that contain the genetic material are not joined, but two ends are rooted one in the other. The two pieces do not merge only into a new individual by means of the formation of a callus, but they also transform what more than anything else identifies the life of the plant: the fruit.

Nucleo is a studio collective of artists and designers based in Turin, founded and directed from 1997 by Piergiorgio Robino, guest professor at the Politecnico of Turin, at Domus Academy of Milan and Bezalel Academy of Jerusalem. Nucleo is an atelier composed by a dozen of artists, designers and artisans chosen to give projects an artisanal form. The artworks, made by resin, wood and metal, have as a common ground a history conceived in its complete form of past, present and future, that is then manipulated and folded in accordance with creation, investigating Mankind through Time.
