Brand New Gallery è anche lieta di presentare Dark before the bright exit, prima personale europea dell’artista americana Juliana Romano (1982).

Brand New Gallery is pleased to present NY: New Perspectives, an exhibition in collaboration with Linda Yablonsky.
This exhibition introduces some of the most interesting artists among the younger generations living and working in New York and explores the latest trends on the city's art scene.
For over fifty years New York has been the centre of contemporary art and despite the fact that globalization today has allowed for the recognition and development of other cities, such as Berlin or Los Angeles, New York still holds its place as one of the most important and dynamic meeting points on the international art scene. Inspired by the experience of living in one of the world's most creative and heterogeneous cultural centres, a city that constantly reinvents itself, the artists selected employ a wide range of artistic practices and processes, using a variety of media ranging from painting and sculpture to photography and video, exploring and analysing the aesthetic, cultural and sociological issues of our age.
The exhibition highlights the heterogeneity of languages employed by the artists chosen: from traditional materials such as oil or acrylic on canvas in the works of Lisa Yuskavage, Ellen Altfest, Rosson Crow, Joe Bradley, Angel Otero and Janaina Tschape we pass to new levels of painting made with non-conventional media such as woollen carpets corroded by acid from Anna Betbeze, broken plexiglass and glass mounted by Jason Gringler on a frame, natural graphite in the works of Teresita Fernandez, and ink and bleach used in Sam Moyer's canvases. A section of the exhibition is devoted to photography, both analogue and digital, with works by Anne Collier, Roe Ethridge, Adam Helms, Josephine Meckseper, Sara VanDerBeek, Tamar Halpern and Josh Kolbo.

La mostra offre un’introduzione ad alcuni dei più interessanti artisti delle ultime generazioni che vivono e lavorano a New York, esplorando le ultime tendenze della scena artistica di questa città.
New York è stata il centro del mondo dell’arte contemporanea per oltre cinquant’anni e nonostante oggi, grazie alla globalizzazione, si siano sviluppate ed abbiano ottenuto riconoscimento altre città come Berlino o Los Angeles, New York riesce ancora ad attrarre e a rimanere uno dei più importanti e dinamici punti d’incontro del panorama artistico internazionale. Traendo ispirazione dal vivere in uno dei centri culturali più creativi ed eterogenei del mondo, in una città che si reinventa costantemente, gli artisti selezionati spaziano attraverso un’ampia varietà di processi e pratiche artistiche: usando media diversi, dalla pittura alla scultura, dalla fotografia al video, esplorano ed analizzano i problemi estetici, culturali e sociologici del nostro tempo.
Questa mostra sottolinea l’eterogeneità dei linguaggi usati dagli artisti selezionati: dall’uso di materiali tradizionali come l’olio o acrilico su tela nelle opere di Lisa Yuskavage, Ellen Altfest, Rosson Crow, Joe Bradley, Angel Otero e Janaina Tschape si passa ad un nuovo livello di pittura realizzata con media non convenzionali come i tappeti di lana corrosi da acidi di Anna Betbeze, il plexiglass e i vetri rotti montati su telaio di Jason Gringler, la grafite naturale nell’opera di Teresita Fernandez, o l’inchiostro e la candeggina nelle tele di Sam Moyer. Una sezione della mostra è dedicata al medium fotografico, analogico e digitale, nelle opere di Anne Collier, Roe Ethridge, Adam Helms, Josephine Meckseper, Sara VanDerBeek, Tamar Halpern e Josh Kolbo.
