Paolo Chiasera’s multi-disciplinary work involves installation, video, painting, performance, architecture, curating and writing. Through manifold narratives the artist retraces the interactions between history and power, social groups, and the loss of control. For years Chiasera has addressed the complex relationship which connects people to their role models and traditions, as in the Tupac Project in 2005, a monument dedicated to Tupac Amaru Shakur, the Black Panther rapper who died in ‘96 in a Las Vegas. More recently, while the relationship between the body and architecture has remained central, his practice has focused on the medium of painting in its expanded field of appearance and use.

Chiasera has exhibited in a number of international institutions such as: Prada Foundation, Venice, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Vleeshal Center for Contemporary Art, Middelburg, MAN Museo Arte Nuoro, SMAK Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Gent, Kunsthall Bergen, Bergen, MARTa Herford, Tessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art in Greece, Museum Dhondt Dhaenens, Sint-Martens-Latem, MACRO, Museo Arte Contemporanea Roma, MAMBO, Museo d’Arte Moderna Bologna, Museo Nazionale delle Arti del XXI secolo in Rome, GAM, Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna Torino.
