IT La mostra personale di Peter Wächtler è la seconda commissione che la Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare affida a un artista emergente e che occupa tutto il piano terra degli spazi di via Rafenstein.

Invitato a pensare a un progetto site-specific per gli spazi e per il contesto sia della città sia della regione, Wächtler è tornato in visita più volte durante l’anno e ha analizzato luoghi fisici e di produzione che lo hanno ispirato nella realizzazione di un progetto composto di opere scultoree, fotografiche, pittoriche e video.

Il risultato è una mostra complessa nella quale l'artista mette in evidenza alcuni aspetti caratteristici della sua pratica: l'interesse per tecniche artistiche tradizionali e artigianali; la necessità di costruzione narrativa simile a quella di un racconto (Wächtler è anche uno scrittore) e la capacità di muoversi liberamente tra diversi mezzi espressivi.

Tutti questi mezzi diventano tappe di un racconto nel quale il personale si mescola all'impersonale, il soggettivo all’oggettivo, il reale al surreale o all'irreale.

Peter Wächtler lavora con una varietà di media: bronzo e ceramica, testi, disegni e video. Ma è in realtà il racconto stesso a costituire il suo materiale prediletto. Le sue opere evocano spesso una narrazione che vede figure umane o animali in stati particolari di animazione. Questi usano e adattano elementi di finzione, folklore e cultura popolare, relazionandosi sia a tradizioni specifiche che a favole comuni, e concretizzano le diverse modalità in cui una storia può essere raccontata, tanto quanto la storia in sé.
Wächtler (nato nel 1979 ad Hannover, in Germania) vive e lavora a Berlino. Le sue opere sono state esposte in mostre personali presso la Kunsthall di Bergen, lo Schinkel Pavillon di Berlino, al MUKHA di Anversa, alla Chisenhale Gallery di Londra e alla Reinassaince Society di Chicago. Il 30 agosto ha inaugurato una sua personale presso la Kunsthalle di Zurigo.

EN The solo show of Peter Wächtler is the second commission project that the Antonio Dalle Nogare Foundation trusts to an emerging artist. This project will cover the whole ground floor of the building in Rafenstein Street.
Invited to conceive a site-specific project for the this space and the surrounding context of the city and the region, Wächtler came visiting a few times during the year; he studied the places and the production sites which inspired him to realize an exhibition project that comprises sculpture, photography, painting and video.

The result is a complex show where the artist underlines some key aspects of his practice: the interest for traditional artistic techniques and craftsmanship; the need for a narrative structure, similar to the one of a tale (Wächtler is a writer too) and the ability to switch freely from one expressive medium to another. All those media become part of a tale where the personal mixes with the impersonal, the subjective with the objective, the real with the surreal or the irreal.

Peter Wächtler works in a variety of media: bronze and ceramics, text, drawings and video. But in many ways ‘stories’ could be described as his main artistic material. His works often evoke a narration, with animals or human figures in animated states. They are made in ways that use and adapt elements of fiction, folklore and pop culture, relating to specific traditions and common tales, and materialize the ways of telling a story as much as the story itself.
Wächtler (b. 1979 Hannover, Germany) lives and works in Berlin. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Bergen Kunsthall, Bergen; Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin; MUKHA, Antwerp; Chisenhale Gallery, London and Renaissaince Society, Chicago. His solo show at Kunsthalle Zurich opened on the 30th August, 2019.

DE Die Einzelausstellung von Peter Wächtler ist die zweite Produktion, welche die Stiftung Antonio Dalle Nogare einem aufstrebenden Künstler anvertraut, dem dafür das gesamte Erdgeschoss des Gebäudes zur Verfügung gestellt wird.

Auf die Einladung hin, an ein ortsspezifisches Projekt für den Raum und im Kontext von Stadt und Region zu denken, kehrte Wächtler im Laufe des vergangenen Jahres mehrmals nach Bozen zurück und untersuchte dabei sowohl die Umgebung als auch die Produktionsstätten für die Ausstellung. Diese haben ihn zu einem Projekt inspiriert, welches sowohl skulpturale, als auch fotografische, sowie bildnerische und videastische Arbeiten beinhalten wird.

Das Ergebnis ist eine komplexe Ausstellung, in welcher der Künstler einige charakteristische Aspekte seiner Praxis hervorhebt: sein Interesse an traditionellen künstlerischen Techniken und Handwerkskunst, die Notwendigkeit einer narrativen Konstruktion ähnlich der einer Geschichte (Wächtler ist auch Schriftsteller) und die Fähigkeit, sich frei zwischen verschiedenen Medien zu bewegen.

All diese Mittel werden zu Teilen einer Geschichte, in der das Persönliche mit dem Unpersönlichen, das Subjektive mit dem Objektiven, das Reale mit dem Surrealen oder Unwirklichen vermischt wird.

Peter Wächtler arbeitet mit verschiedenen Medien: Bronze und Keramik, Text, Zeichnungen und Video. Aber in vielerlei Hinsicht könnten "Geschichten" als sein wichtigstes künstlerisches Material bezeichnet werden. Seine Arbeiten erinnern oft an eine Erzählung, mit Tieren oder menschlichen Figuren in animierten Situationen. Sie sind so gestaltet, dass sie Elemente der Fiktion, Folklore und Popkultur nutzen, sich auf spezifische Traditionen und gemeinsame Geschichten beziehen und die Art eine Geschichte zu erzählen ebenso materialisieren, wie die Geschichte selbst.
