Il progetto “SPAZI DI LUCE. Piero Dorazio e il movimento internazionale ZERO” si concentra sulle relazioni di Piero Dorazio con il movimento internazionale ZERO, una rete di artisti europei che alla fine degli anni cinquanta intendevano modificare radicalmente la visione dell’arte.
La mostra e il libro sono concepiti come iniziative complementari tese a indagare in termini interconnessi questi legami storici e artistici tra Dorazio e ZERO, altamente significativi ma non ancora esplorati, per mostrare la profondità e il significato di questo rapporto, in modo particolare per quanto non esclusivo nei primi anni cruciali del movimento (1957-1965). Raccogliendo fondamentali e importanti opere così come rari e inediti materiali d'archivio (lettere, fotografie, documenti), reperiti attraverso approfondite ricerche internazionali, il progetto intende presentare momenti e idee chiave che illustrano l'impatto significativo di queste connessioni. Dimostra come, nel suo lungo, intenso e poliedrico percorso, Dorazio abbia saputo instaurare un proficuo dialogo con gli artisti di ZERO, non solo accompagnandoli nella loro crescita creativa grazie alla sua personalità entusiasta e generosa, ma anche ispirando e condividendo idee con una intera generazione europea, in cui i confini di lingue, appartenenze e culture sono stati sostituiti dai nodi attivi di una rete di corrispondenze e scambi.

The project “SPACES OF LIGHT. Piero Dorazio and the international ZERO movement” focuses on the connections between Italian post-war abstract artist Piero Dorazio and the international ZERO movement: a network of European artists, who at the end of the 1950s wanted to radically change the vision of art.
The exhibition and the book are conceived as complementary initiatives to investigate in intertwined terms these highly meaningful yet still underexplored connections of history and vision between Dorazio and ZERO, to show the depth and significance of this relationship, not exclusive in the early crucial years of the movement (1957-1965). Collecting both pivotal and significant artworks and unpublished and rare archival materials (letters, photographs, documents), found through in-depth international researches, the project is intended to present key moments and ideas illustrating the meaningful impact of these connections. It demonstrates how, in his long, intense and multifaceted path, Dorazio was able to establish a fruitful dialogue with ZERO artists, not only accompanying them in their creative growth thanks to his enthusiastic and generous personality, but also inspiring and sharing ideas with a whole European generation, in which the boundaries of language, belonging and culture were replaced by the active nodes of a network of correspondence and exchanges.
