“Que Viene el Coco” nasce da una residenza artistica organizzata a Gesves, un piccolo comune belga, dove gli otto artisti hanno convissuto per due settimane. In una casa isolata di campagna hanno costruito tre camere oscure trasformando l'abitazione in un laboratorio fotografico dove hanno sperimentato la tecnica in senso non convenzionale, in un processo ibrido tra fotografia e stampa, incisione e pittura.

Durante la residenza gli artisti hanno prodotto più di cinquanta opere fotografiche in bianco e nero che compongono una mostra itinerante presentata a Encore, il project space di Alice Gallery a Bruxelles, a aprile 2018. Le opere saranno esposte per la prima volta in Italia, a Roma, negli spazi della Galleria Varsi.

Le stampe ai sali d'argento sono state realizzate mescolando procedimenti di stampa differenti come cliché verre, photogram e interventi diretti sui negativi, che hanno dato risultati originali nell’incontro con i diversi linguaggi degli artisti.
Nel buio della camera oscura la pittura brutale di Canemorto e Brunello si è mescolata all’immaginario visionario di Boiter e alle suggestioni classiche di Jespers, ha incontrato le memorie e i sogni di Carp e le figure di Servadio.
Nel buio l’istinto ha guidato le mani, il caos ha incoraggiato la contaminazione e favorito "l'errore” che è stato lo stimolo necessario per indagare una dimensione alternativa e ignota.

Il titolo della mostra: “Arriva l’uomo nero”, richiama da un lato l’acquatinta di Goya del 1799, dall’altro invoca la figura misteriosa e oscura. “El Coco” è la metafora dell’attesa, stato che ha caratterizzato l’esperienza artistica, la speranza costante che l'immagine apparisse sulla carta. Il tempo ha dominato la casa, si è fatto immagine, riflessione, scelta ponderata.

All’interno della mostra, nei giorni dal 19 al 22 novembre dalle ore 18.00, avranno luogo i rituali privati Servadio | Body of Reverbs_Ritual Performance in collaborazione con HEXN e Mik Bòiter.
La sera del 23 Novembre avrà luogo l’ultima sessione B.O.R. dell’evento, che verrà presentata come performance aperta al pubblico. Sarà dunque presentato l'LP con le registrazioni della prima edizione di Londra, pubblicato assieme ad un libro che racconta il mondo di B.O.R. edito da Varsi. Le altre sessioni, in questa sede, saranno da considerarsi private e quindi riservate ai soli partecipanti.

"Que Come el Coco" was born from an artistic residence organized in Gesves, a small Belgian town, where the eight artists lived together for two weeks. In an isolated country house they built three dark rooms, transforming the house into a photographic laboratory where they experimented with the technique in an unconventional sense, in a hybrid process between photography and printing, engraving and painting.

During the residency the artists produced more than fifty black and white photographic works that make up a traveling exhibition presented at Encore, the Alice Gallery project space in Brussels, in April 2018. The works will be exhibited for the first time in Rome, in the spaces of Galleria Varsi.
Silver gelatin print were made by mixing different printing processes such as clichés verre, photogram and direct interventions on negatives, which gave original results in the encounter with the different languages ​​of the artists.

In the darkness of the darkroom the brutal painting of Canemorto and Brunello mingled with the visionary imagination of Boiter and with the classic suggestions of Jespers, the memories and dreams of Carp and the figures of Servadio. In the dark instinct guided the hands, chaos encouraged contamination and favored the "error" that was the stimulus necessary to investigate an alternative and unknown dimension.

The title of the exhibition: "The black man arrives", draws on the one hand the aquatint of Goya of 1799, on the other hand invokes the mysterious and dark figure. "El Coco" is the metaphor of waiting, a state that has characterized the artistic experience, the constant hope that the image would appear on paper. Time has dominated the house, it became image, reflection, thoughtful choice.

Within the exhibition, from November 19th to November 22nd from 6pm, will take place the private rituals of “Body of reverbs” by Michele Servadio in collaboration with HEXN and Mik Bòiter. The last session of B.O.R. will take place the evening of November 23, and it will be presented as a performance open to the public. In the same occasion, Galleria Varsi will also present the LP with the recordings of the first London edition, together with a book published by Varsi that narrates the world of B.O.R.
The other sessions will be considered private and are therefore reserved only to participants.
