La Dorothy Circus Gallery aprirà la sua programmazione del 2014 con l’attesissima personale di Ray Caesar dal titolo “The Trouble with Angels".
La mostra inaugurerà venerdì 14 Febbraio 2014 presso la Dorothy Circus Gallery di Roma, dove resterà in esposizione fino al 2 aprile 2014.
Saranno esposti, insieme alle nuove opere in edizione di 20, realizzate appositamente per la galleria che lo rappresenta in esclusiva per l'Italia, anche 5 inediti in tiratura unica, i famosi single varnished collezionati da Madonna e da altri grandi nomi del mondo dello spettacolo.
Le 18 opere in mostra, tra tirature ed edizioni uniche, formeranno una ricca panoramica sull’universo onirico, enigmatico e seducente di Ray Caesar che da anni ci stupisce per la ricchezza del suo immaginario, colmo di sempre nuovi scenari psichici e particolari dalla tecnica sbalorditiva.
Come un abile sarto, Caesar veste di seducenti armonie i suoi angeli, ispirandosi alle epoche della sua memoria e del suo desiderio, cucendo enigmi e simboli misteriosi tra i raffinati dettagli delle sue opere perché esse ci investano di nuovi interrogativi e suggestioni.
Cosa nasce dai pensieri dell’”Etudiant”? Cosa accade il giorno dopo ieri? E perchè la deliziosa creatura in carrozza è stata lasciata in riva al mare?
L’arte apre le porte della nostra percezione a conferma dell suo immenso potere evocativo, con cui ancora una volta, Ray Caesar interpreta ed esaudisce i nostri desideri, primo fra tutti il desiderio di evasione e visione di un possibile itinerario della mente, alla ricerca di luoghi familiari e rassicuranti e alla scoperta di angoli segreti e oscuri della psiche.
Il tempo e lo spazio di Caesar ci attirano come una calamita, la vibrazione tecnologica ci appartiene, l'immaginario ricco di citazioni, da Watteau a Boldini, non fa rivivere il passato ma lo rende attuale e presente.
Le opere della mostra “The Trouble With Angels” saranno pubblicate nel terzo volume del catalogo annuale della Dorothy Circus Gallery dal titolo “The Doors of Perception” in uscita a settembre 2014.
Della Trilogia della Dorothy Circus Gallery sono già editi i primi due volumi “Once Upon a Time” e “Walk on the Wild Side” in cui è pubblicata la mostra di Ray Caesar “Would You Be My Miracle?” del 2011.

Sabato 15 febbraio 2014 La mostra "The Trouble With Angels" inaugurerà, sempre in presenza dell’artista, in contemporanea con Roma, per una vetrina istituzionale presso Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana a Torino, dove resterà in mostra per due mesi.
Nella mostra di Torino, saranno esposte alcune delle opere in edizione di 20 presenti nella mostra di Roma, insieme ad altre opere provenienti da collezioni private ed esposte esclusivamente a Torino.
Le opere in edizione unica saranno in esposizione solamente a Roma.
Durante la mostra di Ray Caesar presso la Dorothy Circus Gallery, che occuperà tutta la sala principale, esporrà, nella sala "White Velvet" normalmente dedicata all’esposizione permanete di Ray Caesar, l'artista canadese Anita Kuntz con la nuova serie dal titolo "The Bestiary"

About Ray Caesar
Ray Caesar è un artista di fama mondiale, riconosciuto leader della Digital Art. Nasce a Londra nel 1958 e mostra fin da bambino interesse per le belle arti, disegnando incessantemente su qualsiasi cosa, comprese le pareti e i pavimenti. Ha lavorato in diversi ambiti, ha frequentato numerose scuole d’arte, ha fatto lavori di progettazione di edifici per studi di architettura, agenzie di servizi digitali, computer modelling, animazione digitale e effetti visivi per televisione e cinema. Le opere di Ray Caesar sono state esposte nelle gallerie più importanti del mondo. Nel giugno 2010 i suoi lavori vengono esposti nella mostra Art From The New World presso il City Museum di Bristol e in Italia, in occasione della mostra Pop Surrealism, ospitata dal Museo Carandente di Spoleto e curata dalla Dorothy Circus Gallery, galleria italiana che lo rappresenta. Ray Caesar ha inoltre esposto nella mostra POP SURREALISM Stay Foolish tenutasi presso il Museo Casa del Conte Verde di Rivoli e una selezione delle sue opere sono state esposte nel prestigioso Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana a Torino. Nel Gennaio del 2012 le opere di Ray Caesar sono state esposte in una mostra collettiva presso il “Musee de la Halle St Pierre”, a Parigi in Francia.
Ray Caesar è collezionato da Riccardo Tisci designer di Givenchy, la famiglia Hearst (magnati dei media) e Madonna e seguito da numerose celebrità come, Christina Aguilera, Kate Moss, Sir Elton John, Mickey Rourke and Kate Beckinsale e ha recentemente attirato l’attenzione dei media, per aver rifiutato una commissione per la pop star Madonna, che da tempo desidera essere ritratta da Caesar.
Ogni opera di Ray Caesar è come un piccolo pezzo di un grande puzzle. Come Mary Shelley destruttura la figura umana per ricostruirla, così Ray Caesar nelle sue creazioni riunisce frammenti di stili decorativi e periodi architettonici per dar vita ad una bellezza che non soffre di legami col tempo. In un mix di art decò, stile vittoriano e codici visivi del primo novecento le opere di Caesar emergono forti di un’inconfondibile personalità e fascino. Maestro assoluto della tecnica digitale è punto di riferimento per tutti gli artisti che guardano a questa disciplina. Caesar si avvale di Maya (un software 3D che viene utilizzato per effetti di animazione e nella realizzazioni di videogame) per creare le sue figure e le realtà nelle quali esse vivono. Grazie a questo programma, costruisce modelli digitali con scheletri e articolazioni anatomiche invisibili che possono essere piegate e manipolate per assumere qualsiasi posizione. Di seguito avvolge i modelli in vesti sfarzose, aggiungendo capelli, pelle, ciglia e unghie. Dopodiché li posiziona in ambienti 3D digitalmente illuminati e impeccabilmente dettagliati costruiti con strati architettonici, finestre, carta da parati, tende e mobili. Il processo meticoloso di Caesar incorpora elementi di disegno, pittura, collage e scultura, ore interminabili di lavoro allo scopo di raggiungere uno scenario notevole e intricato. Inoltre, per sottolineare la sua tecnica scultorea, Caesar paragona il suo processo di stampa 2D con immaginari creati in 3D, al catturare dei fotogrammi da video o da film. Mantenendo sempre il pieno controllo sui costumi, sulle posizioni ed illuminando perfettamente le sue figure e ogni elemento dei loro ambienti, l’abilità di Caesar si potrebbe paragonare ad un’estensione avanzata di un’ossessione infantile – il gioco delle bambole. Immaginazione, fantasia, escapismo, crudeltà umana e travestimento sono i temi ricorrenti esplorati nelle sue drammatiche narrazioni. Quel che tradisce, ciò che ad un primo momento appare come innocenza infantile, è il loro sguardo penetrante e ammiccante, la loro forza interiore così in contrasto con la loro fragile apparenza fisica. Dettagli oscuri si manifestano dal profondo dell’immensa immaginazione dell’artista per definire realtà simulate, trasportando l’osservatore in santuari creati per il suo fantasma-bambino smarrito, il quale emerge dalle ombre per trovare spazio in rifugi protetti, portando con se macabri segreti e verità nascoste.

Dorothy Circus Gallery will open its 2014 schedule in 2014 with the long-awaited solo exhibition by Ray Caesar titled "The Trouble with Angels" .
The exhibition will open on Friday February 14th 2014 at the Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, where it will be on display until April 2nd 2014.
Alongside with new artworks in edition of 20 , made specifically for the gallery that represents him exclusively for Italy , will be displayed also 5 brand new unique edition pieces, the renowed single varnished collected by Madonna and other graet collectors.
The 18 works on display, including editions and unique editions, will create a rich overview of the dreamlike, enigmatic and seductive universe of Ray Caesar, who for years amazed us for the richness of his imagination, full of renovated psychic scenarios and technically stunning details.
As a skilled tailor, Caesar dresses his angels of seductive harmonies, inspired by the memory of his times and of his personal desire , sewing puzzles and mysterious symbols among defined details of his artworks so that we are assaulted by new questions and suggestions.
What is coming out from the thoughts of the "Etudiant"? What happens the day after yesterday? And why was the lovely creature in the carriage left nearby the sea?
Art opens the doors of our perception, confirming its immense evocative power , which once again is used by Ray Caesar to interpret and fulfill our desires, first of all, the desire to escape and to visualize a possible journey of the mind, which brings us through familiar and reassuring places, and at the same time deep into the secrets and dark corners of our mind.
Ray Caesar’s Time and Space draw us like a magnet, the vibration of technology belongs to us, the rich imagery of quotations, from Watteau to Boldini, does not relive the past, but it makes the past contemporary and present.
The works in the exhibition "The Trouble With Angels" will be published in the third volume of the annual catalog of Dorothy Circus Gallery titled "The Doors of Perception " coming out on September 2014.
The first and the second volumes of Dorothy Circus Gallery’ Trilogy " Once Upon a Time" and " Walk on the Wild Side " featuring the 2011 exhibition by Ray Caesar " Would You Be My Miracle ? " are already published.
We are pleased to announce that Ray Caesar, for the first time in Italy, will attend the opening, at Dorothy Circus Gallery in Via dei Pettinari 76 starting at 7:00 pm
Cocktail outfit is requested and is appreciated a Red dress code.
On February 14th 2014 at 4.30pm there will be a meeting with the artist, reserved to Press and Collectors.
Saturday, February 15th 2014 the exhibition "The Trouble With Angels" will open, simultaneously with Rome, for an institutional showcase at the prestigious Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana in Turin, where it will remain on display for two months.
In the Turin exhibition, will be exhibited some of the artworks in edition of 20 that will be in the Rome exhibition, along with other works from private collections exhibited exclusively in Turin.
The Ray Caesar’s unique editions will be on display exclusively in Rome.
During the Ray Caesar exhibition at the Dorothy Circus Gallery, which will occupy the whole main “Red Hall”, will exhibit the Canadian artist Anita Kuntz with the new series entitled "The Bestiary" in the Gallery’s project space "White Velvet Room" normally dedicated to a permanent exhibition of Ray Caesar’ art.

About Ray Caesar
Ray Caesar is an international well-known artist, undisputed leader of Digital Art.
He was born in London in 1958, showing a deep interest for art as a child, drawing on everything that would come in his way including floors and walls.
He has worked in several fields, attended many art schools, and realized building project works for architectural studios, agencies of digital technique, computer modeling, digital animation and has also made visual effects for both television and film. Ray Caesar’s artworks have been exhibited in the greatest gallery all over the world.
In June 2010 he joined the “Art From The New World” at the City Museum of Bristol and the Pop Surrealism show, at the Museo Carandente of Spoleto, curated by Dorothy Circus Gallery, his official Italian Agent. In January 2012 Ray Caesar art has been shown in a Group Show at the “Musee de la Halle St Pierre” in Paris France.
In Italy, Ray Caesar’s artworks has been recently exhibited also in the Pop Surrealism “Stay Foolish” show that took place in the Museum Casa Del Conte Verde in Rivoli, Torino, moreover a selection of his Art has been displayed at the prestigious location in Torino Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana. The Artist brought the attention of the media because he turned down the pop Star Madonna who wanted him to make her portrait.
Ray Caesar is a favorite with celebrities such as Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Kate Moss, Sir Elton John, Mickey Rourke and Kate Beckinsale and his Art is coveted by Riccardo Tisci designer di Givenchy, the Hearst Family.
Each one of his works is like a little piece of a big puzzle. Like Mary Shelley who deconstructs the human body in order to reconstruct it, so does Ray Caesar. In his creations he gets together fragments of decorative styles and architectural ages to give birth to a timeless beauty. In this mix of Art Decò, Victorian style and visual codes from the early 1900’s, his works really stand out for their personality and charm.
Absolute master of digital technique he is a reference point to all the artists who faces this artistic discipline. Caesar works in Maya (a 3D modeling software used for digital animation effects in film and game industries), using it to create his figures as well as the virtual realms in which they exist. Through the program, he builds digital models with invisible skeletons and anatomical joints that can be bent and manipulated to assume any pose.
He wraps the models in rich textures, adding hair, skin, eyelashes and fingernails.
Then places them in digitally lit, impeccably detailed 3D environments built with architectural layers, windows, wallpapers, curtains and furnishings.
Caesar’s meticulous process incorporates elements of drawing, painting, collage and sculpture, working countless hours to achieve every remarkably intricate tableau.
Further emphasizing his sculptural technique, Caesar compares his process of 2D printmaking with imagery created in 3D as being similar to the practice of capturing stills from video and film.
With full control over dressing, posing and lighting his figures as well as every element of their surroundings, Caesar’s craft is an advanced extension of a childhood obsession-playing with dolls.
Fantasy, escapism, human cruelty and disguise are reoccurring themes explored within his dramatic narratives. Betraying the seemingly child-like innocence of the figures is their piercing, knowing gaze-exposing inner strength in contrast with their fragile physical appearance.
Dark details manifest from deep within the artist’s vast imagination to define simulated realities, transporting the viewer into sanctuaries created for his lost ghost-children who emerge from shadows into safe refuge, carrying macabre secrets and hidden truths.
