Comunicato stampa
Marubi Museum is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of photographers Safet and Gjylzade Dokle, curated by Lek M. Gjeloshi.
Safet and Gjylzade Dokle's photographic activity took place in the village of Borje in the Kukes District and beyond for over forty years, from the 1930s to the beginning of the 1970s. Their photo collection provides evidence of the political history, social life, rituals, and traditional aspects of Northeastern Albania during that time. The photographic collection comprises approximately 20,000 negatives and is the largest collection donated to the Marubi National Museum of Photography, from the 1990s. The exhibition builds the first narrative on this photographic archive, with particular attention dedicated to the ethnographic dimension and the exoterism that it now offers as a flow of images.
