La Galleria 1/9unosunove è lieta di presentare Extra-Humans, stochastic face generation,
mostra personale di Sergio Lombardo.
L’opening si terrà il 6 Giugno 2023 dalle ore 18.00 presso 1/9unosunove in Via degli Specchi, 20.
La mostra sarà visitabile fino al 23 Settembre 2023.
EXTRA-HUMANS, stochastic face generation.
Fanno parte di questa mostra una serie di 24 Unpredictable Faces già pubblicate sulla Rivista di
Psicologia dell'Arte (2022) e una serie inedita di 15 Extra-Humans. Ambedue le serie sono state
generate con l'algoritmo V-RAN (1993) e successive modifiche. In particolare sono stati modulati i
seguenti parametri. Nelle 24 Unpredictable Faces l'algoritmo V-RAN è stato applicato sui prototipi
P6, con 41 vertici (13 di 4°, 2 di 6° e 26 di 2°) e P7 con 47 vertici (13 di 4° e 34 di 2°) con un raggio
di attrazione dei punti random di r<15 ed r<20. Nei 10 Extra-Humans l'algoritmo V-RAN è stato
applicato sul prototipo P8 con 34 vertici (2 di 6°, 13 di 4° e 19 di 2°) con un raggio di attrazione
dei punti random di r<5, r<10, r<15, r<20 e r<25. Successivamente è stato applicato un algoritmo
che trasforma in curve tutti i vertici di 2°. Infine sono state colorate in nero 12 regioni non
confinanti lasciando bianche le restanti 8 regioni anch'esse non confinanti.
Le 24 Unpredictable Faces del primo gruppo sono state misurate esteticamente secondo le
regole dell'Eventualismo (D'Argenzio 2022) ed insieme al secondo gruppo di 15 Extra-Humans
sono parte di due esperimenti ancora in corso: Relations e Nonsense Faces ai quali i visitatori
della mostra saranno invitati a partecipare.

1/9unosunove Gallery is pleased to present Extra-Humans, stochastic face generation, a solo
exhibition by Sergio Lombardo.
The opening will be held on June 6, 2023 from 6 p.m. at 1/9unosunove in Via degli Specchi, 20.
The exhibition will be open until September 23, 2023
EXTRA-HUMANS, stochastic face generation.
A series of 24 Unpredictable Faces already published in the Rivista di Psicologia dell'Arte (2022)
and an unpublished series of 15 Extra-Humans are part of this exhibition. Both series were
generated with the V-RAN algorithm (1993) and subsequent modifications. In particular, the
following parameters were modulated. In the 24 Unpredictable Faces the V-RAN algorithm was
applied to the prototypes P6 with 41 vertices (13 of 4°, 2 of 6° and 26 of 2°) and P7 with 47
vertices (13 of 4° and 34 of 2°) with a random point attraction radius of r<15 and r<20. In the 10
Extra-Humans the V-RAN algorithm was applied on the prototype P8 with 34 vertices (2 of 6°, 13
of 4° and 19 of 2°) with a random point attraction radius of r<5, r<10, r<15, r<20 and r<25. Next,
an algorithm was applied to transform all 2° vertices into curves. Finally, 12 non-contiguous
regions were coloured black, leaving the remaining 8 non-contiguous regions white.
The 24 Unpredictable Faces in the first group have been aesthetically measured according to the
rules of Eventualism (D'Argenzio 2022) and together with the second group of 15 Extra-Humans
are part of two experiments still in progress: Relations and Nonsense Faces in which visitors to
the exhibition will be invited to participate.
