APALAZZOGALLERY è felice di annunciare la mostra SIGNS OF THE TIMES curata da Jérôme Sans, con opere degli artisti :mentalKLINIK, Joël Andrianomearisoa, Andreas Angelidakis, Romain Bernini, Thomas Lélu, Lin Zhipeng (No.223) e Luna Paiva.

I recenti eventi che hanno fatto precipitare il mondo in uno stato di incertezza globale hanno dimostrato che non esiste alcuna verità universale. Il nostro modello sociale, che sembrava essere accettato all'unanimità, si rivela essere una fragile scacchiera che può essere scossa in qualsiasi momento. Se, dopo la crisi pandemica, il mondo sembra essere tornato al suo corso abituale e al suo aspetto precedente, il nucleo del pensiero di tutti è inevitabilmente cambiato; anche i segni hanno subito una variazione. Non è più l'individuo che costruisce il suo ambiente ma l'ambiente che ci definisce come esseri umani.

La mostra Signs of The Times intende presentare una prospettiva sul territorio di questi interrogativi plurali. Come decifrare e appropriarsi d'ora in poi dei nuovi segni emessi dal nostro ambiente sotto questo orizzonte incerto? Mentre la collisione tra la nostra civiltà e i limiti imposti dalla natura diventa sempre più visibile, come possiamo conciliare la leggerezza dei semplici piaceri del momento presente con la coscienza globale del nostro tempo?

Dando prova di pensiero critico, gli artisti riuniti in questa mostra affrontano con un'immaginazione radicale queste domande esistenziali, politiche e sociali che guidano la nostra esperienza del mondo di oggi. Sotto il segno del miraggio ma anche della semantica e del potere di riproduzione all'infinito, la mostra propone universi multipli che flirtano in modo disinvolto con l'angoscia di un futuro incerto. Al di là della loro immediata potenza espressiva, le opere affrontano in maniera sottesa alcune delle nostre più pressanti questioni attuali: il riscaldamento globale, la riscrittura della storia, le sfide delle giovani generazioni di fronte a una società consumista, l'ingiunzione a produrre valore, il diluvio di messaggi informativi e l'individualismo sfrenato... Se non si tratta qui di dare soluzioni o risposte a questi problemi, le opere si avvicinano in maniera frontale a questa mutazione di segni in atto. E, nel nostro mondo di immagini, sono, di fatto, una forza che agisce.

Recent events that plunged the world into a state of global uncertainty have proven that there is definitely no such thing as a universal truth. Our societal model, which seemed to be unanimously accepted, turns out to be a fragile chessboard that can be shaken at any moment. If, after the pandemic crisis, the world appears to have returned to its usual course and former appearance, the core of everyone’s thinking has inevitably changed; signs have shifted too. It is no longer the individual who constructs his or her environment but the environment that defines us as human beings.

The exhibition Signs of The Times intends to put into perspective the territory of these plural questionings. How to decipher and appropriate from now on the new signs emitted by our environment under this uncertain horizon? As the collision between our civilization and the limits imposed by nature becomes more and more visible, how can we reconcile the lightness of the simple pleasures of the present moment with the global consciousness of our time?

By demonstrating critical thinking, the artists gathered in this exhibition address these existential, political, societal questions that drive our experience of the world today with radical imagination. Under the sign of the mirage but also of the semantics and the power of reproduction to infinity, the exhibition proposes multiple universes flirting in a relaxed way with the anguish of an uncertain future. Beyond their immediate expressive power, the works tackle in an underlying way some of our most pressing current issues: global warming, the rewriting of history, the challenges of the younger generation in the face of a consumerist society, the injunction to produce value, the flood of information messages, and unbridled individualism… If it is not a question here of giving solutions or answers to these problems, the works approach in a frontal way this mutation of signs currently taking place. And, in our world of images, they are, in fact, an acting force.
